March Christmas cards

On Splitcoast Stampers there's a monthly challenge to make Christmas cards throughout the year so you don't have to panic or stressed closer to the holiday. I'm suppose to make 5 each month. I only had 2 made as of today, so this morning I made three identical cards so I'd reach my goal for the month. Here's what I made:

I started with a white base, added a red layer, then a white layer that was embossed with the CB snowflake folder. I stamped the sentiment Joy to the world (DRS Designs 864E) in Stazon Black on the white panel before embossing it. The poinsettia was made using Spellbinders dies. After cutting and embossing them, I sponged real red ink on the raised parts. The fanciful flourish was cut with green cs. After attaching it to the card, I added the poinsettia. Tiny yellow beads are glued in the center of the flower.

Happy Monday

Trust everyone had a good weekend. I cannot believe the beautiful weather we have been having! Everything is blooming and turning green. I love this time of the year.

Today I have a couple of cards to share with you. First is a sympathy card that uses two recently released stamps from DRS Designs -the Leaf Butterfly Spray (1098M) and Extending Sympathy Sentiment (1090G).

The purple card base was embossed using the CB Damask folder. I stamped the Leaf Butterfly Spray on white card stock in Memento Black ink. After coloring the image with Copic markers, I cut it out, added a yellow layer and then attached it to the purple card.

The sentiment was also stamped on white card stock with Memento black ink and cut into a rectangle. I used the same yellow card stock for the Spellbinders' fancy tag die and attached the sentiment to the tag.  Hope you like it.

Last week I didn't get a chance to play in Lesley's Merry Monday Challenge, so today I had to make time for this challenge. I really enjoy getting a head start on my Christmas cards. So here is her sketch and the card I created.

If you haven't checked out Lesley's blog "Always Playing with Paper" you should come over and join in the weekly Merry Monday challenge. It's a great way to get started on those Christmas cards!

Happy Monday

Happy Monday Everyone! Today I want to share two cards created with the same DRS Design stamps and same layout. I made these for my two grandchildren for Easter. The cards are exactly the same, I just used different colored CS and Copics.

I started with a white card and added the green and pink panels after running them through the CB with the dotted swiss folder. The jelly beans (241D) were stamped in Memento Black on 1 1/4 in. white panels. After coloring the beans with various Copic Markers, the panels were attached to slightly larger yellow and purple panels and attached to the card. The Easter Bunny (639G) was stamped in Memento Black on white CS, colored with Copics, cut out and attached to the card with foam dots for dimension.

The sketch is from SCS Sketch Challenge last week. It's a fun and easy design.

Merry Monday Challenge #11

Today I made a card for Lesley's Merry Monday Challenge #11. I didn't have time to play last week and I am just barely under the wire this week!!  Each Monday she gives us a sketch design and we are suppose to create a Christmas card based on that sketch and get it posted before 8 p.m. on Saturday. It is a great way to get a head start on Christmas cards. Here's this week's sketch design:

And here's the card I made for this week's challenge.

I started with a navy card, added a Bashful blue panel and then a white panel that was embossed with the CB snowflake folder. A strip of navy was layered on top, after adding the two snowflake brads. The main image was stamped in Versafine on Bashful Blue CS, then sprinkled with Detail White Embossing powder. After heat embossing the image, I cut it out and popped it up with foam adhesive for some dimension.

The snowflake image is a Holly Berry House stamp. I don't know if the detail shows up in the photo or not, but it is a beautiful snowflake.

Thanks for taking a look. If you'd like to play along, check out Lesley's blog:  http://www.alwaysplayingwithpaper.blogspot.com/

DRS Designs Weekly Challenge

This week the challenge at DRS Designs is a CAS card. So here is my Clean and Simple card for this week's challenge.

I dry embossed a couple of borders on the white card base, then stamped the Girl Swirl Hearts (597G) in Real Red. The sentiment (784E) is stamped in black on white card stock, cut with an oval nestie die and sponged with real red while still in the die. It's layered on red and attached to the card base with foam dots for dimension. A small red bow was added above the sentiment.

Hope you like it.

Happy Monday!

Today I want to share a card created with some of DRS Designs just released stamps - Cat in the Bag (1118H) and Cat's Meow Birthday (1125G) as well as the Cat Paws Background (698H). These new stamps are so cute and make adorable birthday cards for children and cat lovers of all ages!

The card base is pink card stock. The Cat Paw Background (698H) is stamped in Versacolor Petal Pink ink on white card stock. After punching the corners, I attached it to black card stock and punched the corners on it too. Black gingham ribbon was added to top of this panel before attaching it to the card base. I used my bow easy to make a small gingham bow. The sentiment (1125G) was stamped in Memento Black on white card stock and then layered on pink and black before attaching it to the main panel. The Cat in the Bag image (1118H) was also stamped in Memento Black on white card stock. I colored the image with my Copics and then cut the image out. It is attached to the main panel with foam dots for some dimension.

Hope you like it!

Weekly Challenge at DRS Designs

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to use green, gold and black on your card. Here's my card for the challenge.

I started by stamping the hat full of shamrocks (205K) on white card stock with Memento black ink. I colored it with my copics and then layered it a black scalloped circle. I added  gold stickles to the buckle. The card base is black cardstock with a green layer on which is stamped Get your Irish on (1005D) in black. I added two large gold square brads and a black ribbon before attaching the shamrock hat. Hope you like it.

You should come over to DRS Designs and play along in this week's challenge. They are giving away the Big Bunny Face (639g) and the One Line Happy Easter (665b) stamps.

Until next time,
