DRS Designs Blog Hop

Today DRS Designs is having a blog hop to show off their just released stamps! If you have arrived at my blog from Sue and DRS Designs blog, you are at the right place. If not, you might want to go back to the DRS Designs blog and start from there. We don't want you to miss anything on the hop. :-)

My card today features the new King Lion stamp (181G) that I paired with an older birthday sentiment (935F).

The card base is SU Kraft card stock with layers of rust and black. King Lion was stamped on white with Memento Black ink, colored with copics, cut with a circle nestie and layered on a black scallop circle.

The Walk on the Wild Side sentiment was stamped in Memento black on a rust panel that was first stamped with DRS Designs polka dot background in Memento white ink. Black half pearls and a strip of black ribbon were added to the panel before attaching King Lion.

Just to change things up a bit, I used a zebra fold on this card. Inside I stamped DRS Designs new Peacock Feather (197H) in Memento Black.

The feather stays hidden when the card is closed. Hope you like it!

From here you need to hop on over to Karin's blog and see what new DRS Designs she's using! Hope you enjoy the blog hop. You could be the winner of some of DRS Designs newest stamps!!

Here's the order of blog spots to help you with the hop!!

Merry Monday Challenge on Saturday!

Here's a card I created using Lesley's sketch for this week's Merry Monday challenge.

The card base is navy CS with a layer of DP. I stamped my snowman image (DRS Designs' 001L) in Memento Black, colored him with Copics, spread lace stickles all over his face for some sparkle, then used my nesties to cut him out. He's layered on the same navy CS. I added some sheer blue ribbon and then punched a couple of mittens out of the navy. My white gel pen didn't work, so I used a silver one to outline the mittens, then drew a snowflake on each.

If you want to get a head start on your Christmas cards, check out Lesley's blog Always Playing with Paper and join in the weekly challenges.

Happy Graduation!

Today I am in need of a couple more grad cards, so I'm sharing one I created for a friend's daughter. Her school colors are blue and white.

My card base is white card stock with a layer of blue, then another piece of white that's been stamped in Ballet Blue ink with DRS Designs grad background (984H). A blue ribbon was added before attaching the panel to the card base. The Congratulations gift card holder (1152K) was also stamped in Ballet Blue, as was the message (018D). After cutting close to the edges it was layered on the same blue card stock. I folded a quarter inch along the sides and bottom, cut the half circle in the top to make it easier to grab the gift card and then attached it with narrow score pal tape. The grad cap (287G) was stamped on the blue CS, cut out and attached with foam dots for some dimension. I added some blue sparkly dew drops to finish it off.

Merry Monday and DRS Designs' Weekly Challenges

Today I made a card for Lesley's weekly Christmas card challenge. Check out her blog "Always Playing with Paper" and play along!!

The card base is Mellow Moss CS with a layer of cranberry and then a layer of white that was embossed with the CB snowflake folder. On top is a strip of cranberry that was punched with a MS scallop border punch. On top is a layer of Mellow Moss and white that's also been embossed with the CB folder. The main image is DRS Designs (827L) Snowflake frame which is stamped with SU Handsome Hunter on Mellow Moss CS, then cut with Nesties. Some nail heads were added as well as a punched bow. I added some pine boughs and holly leaves and berries to finish it off.

This week the challenge at DRS Designs is to use Metal on your cards. I found some metal "Thank Yous" and decided to create a Thank you card.

The CS is Bazzil. The green is stamped with DRS Designs interlocking flower background (813H) in Versafine ink. The main image is DRS Designs daisies (1036K) which was colored with Copics. I added some bakers twine with a metal butterfly charm, the metal Thank you and some metal nail heads to finish the look.

Come on over to DRS Designs can join in the fun. You could be the winner of some cool new stamps!!

Happy Monday

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a family get together to celebrate my father in law's 90th birthday!

Today I want to share a birthday card featuring DRS Designs Un"frog"etable Birthday greeting (1077G). This sentiment makes a cute birthday card and pairs nicely with so many different stamps. I used Frog on a Log (252H) and Toadstools (405F).

The card base is white with a blue strip added to the middle. I stamped the Toadstools in Memento Bamboo ink on green CS, cut the edges with pinking shears and added the two strips to the top and bottom, leaving some of the blue exposed. A blue satin ribbon was added to the top layer. The Toadstools were also stamped in Memento Black on white CS, colored with Copics, cut out and popped up with foam dots. The main image and sentiment were stamped in Memento Black on white CS and layered on brown CS, after coloring the Frog on a Log with Copics.

The sky was sponged with SU Bashful blue. A corner punch was used on all corners of the card to complete the look.

DRS Designs' Weekly Challenge

This week DRS Designs is challenging us to use flying things on our cards. I went with butterflies!

I purchased this MS border punch on sale and just love it. It punches out every other butterfly and only part of the other butterflies, so they are still attached with their wings up. I love the look this punch creates. So I started my card with a Certainly Celery base stamped in Versafine with DRS Designs butterfly background stamp (744F), added two strips that were punched with the butterfly border, then added a dotted celery ribbon and attached the two strips to the left side of the card. The main image is also DRS Designs (914H). I love this butterfly stamp! It is stamped in Memento black on white CS and colored with Copics. The sentiment "Birthday Wishes" (020B) was stamped at the bottom of the image. After cutting out the image panel, the corners on top were punched with a corner punch, then layered on celery CS and then again on white CS. Hope you like it.

Come play along in this week's challenge at DRS Designs.

Until next time,

Merry Monday Challenge

Here's another Christmas card I made using Lesley's Merry Monday Challenge.

I only used white and Bashful blue Card stock on this. The snowflake panel was created using a MS punch. After punching the snowflakes I spray the paper with some smooch and then layered it on a piece of blue CS. The sparkle doesn't show up too well in the photo, but looks really good in real life.  :-) The sentiment is DRS Designs Joy to the World (864E) which was stamped in Memento black on white CS and then layered on the same blue. I used my Nestie snowflake dies to make the small blue snowflakes next to the sentiment and also the snowflake medallion. I just added some half pearls to the snowflakes to finish the look.

Be sure to check out Lesley's blog "Always Playing with Paper" and join in the fun!!

Happy Monday!!

This week DRS Designs' challenge is to make a summer card. Nothing says summer to me more than being at the beach looking out at the ocean. So today I've created an ocean card with DRS Designs cute "Splash the Dolphin" stamp (1031H).

I started with a white card base and added the teal colored piece that was stamped with DRS Designs Sand Snow Water Lines (1141D) in Taken With Teal ink. I added a teal ribbon before attaching the panel to the white base. I also stamped Splash the Dolphin three times in Taken with Teal on the panel. I then stamped Splash three times on Bazzil gray CS and cut them out. They were added to the teal panel with some pop dots. I then cut two strips of CS and used my Fiskars wave border punch before attaching them to the main image. The sentiment (1145C) was stamped in Taken with Teal on white CS, cut with a circle nestie and layered on a gray scallop nestie.

Until till next time,
