Kick up your Heels

Good morning! Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I'm in VA celebrating a couple of birthdays. We'll be having a Minecraft Party for my oldest grandson and a Star Wars party for the youngest. It's gonna be fun!

Today's card features the new Western Dancing Couple. I stamped them, colored them with Copics, die cut them and then added them to the light gray card base that has a darker gray die cut from Hero Arts over top. The greeting is part of the Western Word Square. I think most of the cards I've made recently have some greeting on them from this stamp. It is loaded with greetings! The greeting was die cut with a SB banner die, sponged with some gray ink and added with some foam adhesive.

Saddle Up

Happy Monday Everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. Have you been enjoying all the western themed cards this past week or so here on the DRS Designs blog. There are some fun new images. My card today used the new 4 in 1 Cowboy Gear image as well as the new Western Word Square.

I started by stamping the Western Word Square with Versfine Onyx ink onto cranberry CS, cut it into a strip and added it to the side of the white card base. Next I stamped the first line of the Saddle Up birthday greeting with the same black ink. The rest of the greeting is stamped inside the card.

The hat, saddle and boot were stamped with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics, die cut, layered onto the same cranberry CS and added to the card, some with glue and some with foam adhesive for some dimension.

Inside I also stamped the spur image from the 4 in 1 Cowboy Gear with SU cranberry ink along the bottom of the card.

get well soon!

I made this card to send to my mom who is not feeling very well right now. She loves getting home made cards and I know she'll like this one.  I used Fawn Lawn's Get Well Soon stamp and die set. It's a cute little set and perfect for CAS cards. I stamped the greeting with Versafine Onyx ink, cut it into a strip, layered it onto red CS and attached it to the white card base. The little medicine bottle was stamped with Memento Black ink onto white CS, colored with Copics, die cut and glued onto the card. Last the tiny hearts were stamped with Hero Arts Red ink to look like pills falling out of the bottle.

I'm entering this into the Freshly Made Sketches CAS Sketch Challenge:

Swell Birthday!

I just received this fun stamp/die set by Avery Elle for my birthday. Isn't this happy shark so cute? I stamped him with Memento Black ink onto white CS, colored him with some Copics and die cut using the matching die. The waves were created using a border punch. The front waves were stamped with the small fish from the same stamp set using VersaMark ink. The greeting was stamped with Versafine Onyx ink, die cut and attached with some foam squares. The happy shark was tucked in between the two wave strips. Looking forward to playing around with set some more!

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I created this card for my grandson who is starting Kindergarten in just over a week. He is so excited to be going to school with his older sister. I wanted to make a card to celebrate this big step in his life. I used this week's sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

The images are from a couple of old SU School sets. I think they are labeled 1993. I started by stamping the crayon and pencil images in various colors of ink for the background. Next I stamped the green pencil, notebook and scissors, die cut them and attached them to the red strip. I used a border punch for the numbers and letters on the edge. The multicolored letters on the top strip came from the $ section at Target. It's like Washi tape.

Now I need to create a card for my granddaughter who is starting first grade in September! They sure do grow up fast, don't they?!

Paper Players Challenge 403

DRS Designs has just released some fun new Western themed stamps. I've been having fun playing around with them. Today's card uses the new Cowboy Cactus image along with the Western Word Square. I used sketch 403 from The Paper Players.

Here's the sketch:

I created the background panel by stamping the Western Word Square over and over with TH Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink. The brown strip was embossed with a folder from my stash, cannot remember who made it and it's not labeled. Vickie's Versatile background was stamped onto the kraft strip with the same Oxide ink,

The Cowboy Cactus image was stamped with Memento Black ink onto white CS, colored with copics, die cut into a tag and attached with foam squares. I sponged some Tumbled Glass ink on for the sky. A twine bow was added to the tag.
