Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day! Today I have a couple of cards in honor of Memorial Day and the service and sacrifice of our military members. Both cards use some of the new images from DRS Designs. You can see all of the new images here.

I started this card by stamping the new Stars and Stripes Border image(938P) along the top of my white panel using Versafine Majestic Blue ink. Next I stamped the new Patriotic Heart(934G) and the God Bless America greeting with the same blue ink. I stamped the heart a second time onto white CS, colored it with Copics and after fussy cutting it I added it to the panel with foam squares. The panel was attached to a red panel that was punch with an EK Success stars border punch and then everything was added to the white card base. I had some red, white (clear) and blue rhinestone stars in my stash so I added some to complete the look.

My next card uses the new Camo image (823F). Since I wanted to use the Navy Seal on this card, I stamped the Camo image in the same Versafine Majesttic Blue ink, even though my son in law who serves in the navy now wears the green camo and not the blue.

The camo just didn't look quite right on white CS, so I went with a gray CS. After creating the background, I stamped the Navy Seal onto white CS with the same blue ink, heat embossed it with clear EP, die cut it and layered it onto a gray circle that was sponged along the edges with that blue ink. The seal is attached to the card base with foam adhesive for some dimension. I found some rhinestone anchors in my stash and added them for accents.

Thanks for stopping by today.

It's all in the Ocean!

Happy Monday Everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. I did. DRS is about to release some fun new images and I got to play with them this weekend. And they are fun! You are going to like them!

My first card uses the two fish images from the new 4 in 1 Ocean stamp (953F). These 4 in 1 stamps are great since you get 4 images that can be used together to create backgrounds or separated and used individually like I did on this card.

To begin I used some Distress Oxide inks in a couple of shades of blue and sponged on the water for my scene. While that dried I stamped a few of the fish images onto white CS, colored them with Copics and fussy cut. After deciding where the fish were to be placed, I stamped part of the fish bubbles image and added clear Nuvo drops. The Aquarium die is from Hero Arts and I hadn't used it before even though I've had it for a couple of months now. So I die cut the aquarium from white CS, some plants from green CS and put the scene together. My family loves aquariums especially marine ones, so I can see lots of cards using this die and these little fish in my future!  Here's a look at the inside.

I stamped the greeting without the exclamation point onto white CS, then using a black pen I added an "s" and exclamation mark. After framing it with some blue CS, I added one of the smaller fish.

My second card also uses the 4 in 1 Ocean stamp, but this time I used all four images together and stamped the background using VersaMark ink on the teal panel. I covered most of the background up with the other elements, but if you look closely you can see the two fish and part of the lighthouse image.

I stamped the tiny sailboat from the 4 in 1 Ocean Stamp onto white CS, along with the sailboat and Summer Story Greeting. After coloring the images with Copics, they were die cut and glued onto the teal panel after adding the yellow frames made with the same dies. Everything was added to the yellow card base.

Be sure to check all the other new images from DRS Designs.  Thanks for stopping by.

Love and Anniversaries

Happy Monday Everyone!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend celebrating Mother's Day with family and friends.

Recently I saw a video by Jennifer McGuire using baby wipes and watercolors or re-inkers to create backgrounds. It looked interesting to me so I gave it a try. Some of the backgrounds weren't all that impressive, but some of them I really liked. Here are a couple of cards I created using one of the backgrounds made with several blue reinkers.

I die cut a stitched rectangle panel from the background piece as well as a smaller rectangle from the center. The Life Together sentiment was stamped onto white CS and die cut with the same stitched rectangle die and placed back in the center. The swan image was stamped twice onto white CS, colored with copics, fussy cut and added to the card.

My second card uses the center piece that was die cut from the first card. Gotta love it when nothing goes to waste!!

I stamped the swan image twice again onto white CS, colored with Copics and fussy cut. This time I glued them onto the re-inker background piece which was layered onto a white die cut rectangle and than layered onto the blue panel. The vertical Anniversary greeting was stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with detailed white EP.

If you are interested in giving this technique a try, you can see the video by Jennifer McGuire here
