Happy Grad

My card today is for two challenges this week: the sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches and the cupcake challenge at Cupcake Inspirations. As soon as I saw the TMS sketch, I knew I wanted to make a grad card with stars surrounding the sentiment. The cupcake lady bug colors were perfect for my grad card.  I like the result. Here are the TMS and Cupcake Inspiration photos.

And here's my grad card.

First I stamped DRS Designs' woven plaid background with black and red inks on white CS, layered it on black and then attached it to the white card base. The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink on white, die cut and attached to a black scalloped circle. I stamped the sentiment again on red CS, fussy cut the cap and glued it into place. A tiny black brad was added to the top. Once the sentiment was attached with foam adhesive for dimension, the stars were added. Some red enamel dots complete the look.

I know I'm going to need several more grad cards and I just might do more in this sketch with different colors. It's a fun sketch to work with.

Best Wishes

Today I have a card created for my niece who recently got engaged! I still cannot believe she is old enough to be engaged. She'll always be that little girl running around, playing, and enjoying life to me. Maybe I just don't want to admit how old I'm getting!? Anyway, here's the card.

Her favorite color is purple so I had to go with that. I started by embossing the light purple panel with a rose EF. This is layered on darker purple. Next I stamped the white strip with the small silhouette heart with light purple ink, added it to a dark purple layer and attached it. Next I added the white lacy ribbon down the side and attached everything to the white card base. The Engagement greeting was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink, die cut and layered on a dark purple die cut piece. I'm pretty sure my niece will like this purple card.

Have you checked out this week's challenge here at DRS Designs. It is a color challenge.  Hope you can play along!

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I really like the sketch this week at TMS and decided to play along. I had some dp on my table and decided it would work nicely with the sketch. Here's my Mother's Day card.

I used an older Stamping Up sentiment from their Well Scripted set, die cut with a Spellbinder die set. Instead of using ribbon and a bow, I used some lace for the two ribbon panels.

Birthday Wishes

Today I have a child's birthday card to share with you that features, Wags, the Dog. This week DRS Designs is sponsoring the Send a Smile 4 Kids challenge and it is an animal theme challenge.

I started by stamping the dog paw and bone imaged onto kraft CS with Memento Cocoa ink. Wags, the Dog was stamped with Memento Black ink on cream CS, colored with Copics and die cut. The sentiment was stamped and die cut. Everything is layered on brown CS and then attached to the cream card base. A paw button completes the look.

We'd love to have you play along in this worthy challenge for kids. You could be the winner of some awesome stamps. You can see details here.

Send a Smile 4 Kids

DRS Designs is proud to be sponsoring the Send a Smile 4 kids Challenge this week. The challenge is Animals and a randomly chosen winner will receive a prize from DRS Designs! Hope you can join the fun! Here's the card I created for this worthy cause.

I started by stamping Leonard the Pig with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored him with Copics, die cut and layered him on some green and blue CS. The matching green panel was embossed with the CB Birthday folder, then layered on a matching blue panel. Some blue sequins finish it off. I really like this little image and think it's perfect for a kid's birthday card.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for this challenge!!

2-2-2 Challenge

Hi Everyone. It's Thursday and time for another DRS Designs' challenge. This week it is a 2-2-2 Challenge. You have to have 2 sets of three things on your card. (2 images, 2 colors, 2 sentiments, any combination)

Here's my card with 2 banners, 2 chairs and 2 palm trees.

I started with white CS and sponged on some distress inks for the sand and sky after I'd stamped the two palm trees with Versamark ink and heat embossed them with black EP. Next I used a darker brown distress ink and water colored the tree trunks. The two chairs were stamped on white CS, fussy cut and glued onto the panel overlapping a bit. The sentiment was stamped in two parts and die cut with a banner die. Everything is attached to a kraft panel and then the twine was added. I like the way this turned out.

Hope you can find some time to play along with us this week. You could be the winner of two new stamps from DRS Designs!! Details can be found here.

snow & cocoa!!

Well it may be April, but here in NW Ohio, we had snow over the weekend and not just a dusting. We had 10 inches of the beautiful white stuff. You just never know what the weather is going to bring here. So in honor of this recent bout of snow and wintery temperatures, I thought I'd share something different than the usual spring like cards I've been making recently!

I started by stamping the cocoa image with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored it with Copics, die cut and layered it on some purple CS. The light purple layer was stamped with the medium filigree snowflake in Versafine lavender ink. The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink on white, die cut and added to the corners. Some purple rhinestones complete the look. I hope you are staying warm, but if you are experiencing this same wintery weather, sit back and enjoy some cocoa with me!

This week's challenge here at DRS Designs is to die for and this card works perfectly for it. You just need to use some die cut images on your card. We'd love to have you join in the fun.

To Die For Challenge at DRS Designs

It's Thursday and that means another fun challenge at DRS Designs. This week it's "To Die For." Can you guess what that means? Yep, you gotta use a die cut image (or a punched image) on your card. That's pretty easy. Here's my card.

I needed a sympathy card for a friend and thought this would be a good one to use various dies on. I started with the blue panel and attached it to the white card base after dry embossing it with a Darice basket weave folder. The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx on white CS and die cut with a Spellbinders Fancy Label Tag. The flowers and leafy vines were also created with Spellbinder dies. A blue gemstone and some yellow ribbon complete the look.

I hope you can find time to join in this week's challenge. A randomly selected participant will receive a $10 voucher to DRS Designs. You can see details here.

Happy Mother's Day

I really like the colors for the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge (354) this week. Aren't they beautiful spring colors. I thought they'd be perfect for a mother's day card. Here's the Inspiration photo.

And here's my card.

I started with white CS, masked the edges with tape, sponged on TH distress inks in blue, pink and yellow, added perfect pearls, removed the mask and dry embossed with a Darice butterfly folder. I really like the look of this technique. The sentiment was cut with my Cricut. I sponged more ink and a piece of scrap paper and punched some butterflies to match the background. Some tiny half pearls were added to the butterflies.

My mom loves butterflies, so I know she'll appreciate this card for Mother's Day.

Love is ...

Hi Everyone! My card today was created for a wedding. I started by stamping the Love is Patient greeting with Versafine Black Onyx ink on white CS, stamped the new Open Bible with Stazon Dove Gray ink and then die cut with a nestie.  I really like the soft look of the Bible behind this wonderful verse.

The pink panel was dry embossed and layered on green CS before attaching it to the white card base. The flower border was stamped on white CS with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut. I stamped the border once more and only colored and fussy cut the center flower. The flowers were attached with foam dots for some dimension. The green vines were die cut with a Memory Box die, cut apart and added around the main image.

This card works perfectly for this week's challenge too. It's Spring Fling! Flowers and weddings definitely say Spring to me! Hope you can find some time to play along with us!
