SC374 and Faux Letterpress at SCS

I made this today for the sketch challenge at SCS stampers. I combined the sketch with Beate's tutorial on Faux LetterPress. I love the result. I must admit I had to try it several times. I have a CB and it just didn't cover the entire piece of CS. Finally I added an extra couple of pieces of CS to the "sandwich" and it worked! Yeah!! If you haven't tried this technique check out Beate's tutorial at Split Coast Stampers.

The image is DRS Designs Faith (1025G) stamped in Memento Bamboo Leaves on white CS and layered on a green oval nestie. The background is the faux letterpress using a CB folder and the same Memento ink layered on the same Bazzill green CS. A satin ribbon and bow were added to complete the look. Hope you like it.

Until next time,

Happy Monday, Merry Monday Challenge and ODBD Challenge

Hope everyone had a nice weekend. My husband was gone all weekend to a Men's Retreat, so it was just me and the dog. But I had lots of time to make cards!! For today I've made another Easter card using DRS Designs lovely Flower Trio (1036K) and Easter sentiment (1029D).

I stamped the image in the center of the white card stock, then used a mask and stamped the image two more times, once to the right and once to the left of the center flowers. I colored the image with copics and then sponged some Bashful Blue around the flowers. I layered the white panel on some yellow card stock and attached it to the pink card. I added a layer of green card stock that was punched with a grass border.  Finally a white layer was punched with the Martha Stewart fence border. I stamped Easter blessings on this layer. A sheer pink ribbon was added before the panel was attached to the card.

Here's a card I made for Lesley's (Always Playing with Paper) weekly Christmas Card Challenge. My husband give me the poinsettia dies for Christmas and I hadn't even opened them yet. So I decided to use them! They make a cute and quick card!! The only stamp on this is DRS Designs Merry Christmas (364B) stamped in Stazon Black on red CS. The dp is from the Paper Studio. I sponged SU real red ink and handsome hunter ink on the flowers and leaves. Rhinestones were added to the flower centers.

I also made a card this weekend for Our Daily Bread Design's challenge to make a card other than the standard square or rectangle. I went with a side step card using ODBD Get Well stamps.

I stamped the sentiment and Bible verse in Memento Cocoa ink. The CS and DP are DCWV. I used a grass border punch on the green CS. For the middle step I added some butterflies punched with a MS punch and some small flowers. Satin ribbon and some half pearls finish it off.

Hope you like these!

Use a Tag

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to use a tag or two on your card. You should play along - you could be the winner of some cool stamps from DRS Designs!  Here's my card for this week's challenge.

I stamped my Bashful Blue card base with DRS Designs Dotted Background (628H) in SU Bashful Blue ink. The Happy Birthday music stamp (763P) is also stamped in Bashful Blue on the same card stock. The music panel is layered on navy card stock and attached to the base. The embossed stamp package is from CB. I embossed the image on white and layered it on navy. At the bottom of the card I added a strip of navy, embossed with CB swiss dot folder. Finally I added my Nesties fancy label to the navy strip after stamping Happy Birthday (250B) in Bashful Blue.

Come play along at DRS Designs (http://drsdesignsblog.blogspot.com/) this week!

Merry Monday Challenge #8

Over at Lesley's blog (http://www.alwaysplayingwithpaper.blogspot.com/) this week's sketch is pretty simple. I made a quick card. This week is really busy for me and I knew I had to get the card made today or it just wouldn't get done. So here's my take on this week's sketch.

I started with green card stock, added a strip of white lace to the right edge and then a panel of white card stock embossed with the CB snowflakes folder. The image, DRS Designs trees (876H) was stamped in Memento Black on white card stock, colored with Copics and layered on the same green.  I added some green gingham ribbon to finish it off.

And now I have another Christmas card ready for the 2012 season! I love having a head start on my cards. If you haven't checked out Lesley's blog, you should. It's a fun way to get those cards made ahead of time.

Until next time,

Split Coast Stampers' CAS158 Stitching

Over at SCS, today's challenge was to use either real or faux stitching. I've only used real stitching a couple of times on cards, but I do like the result. So today I had to play along.

I stamped DRS Designs Leaf Sprig (1011H) in Certainly Celery ink on Certainly Celery CS. That panel was sewn onto the white card base using a zig zag stitch. The sentiment is also DRS Designs (306G) and was stamped in Memento Black on white card stock and layered on pink. I used my cricut to cut out multiple sizes of the pink flower, then layered them. They're held together with the pearl brad. I added the polka dotted ribbon before attaching the sentiment.

A friend's grandmother died last night so I made this for him and his family.

DRS Designs Weekly Challenge

At DRS Designs the challenge this week is to use words only your card - no stamped images.  Here's what I came up with.

The only stamp used on this card is DRS Designs (335E)  Thank you for your support. I only used the thank you part of the stamp with rainbow ink on the white cardstock that is mounted on turquoise CS and then on white that has been punched with a border. I added a fancy tag with the same image stamped on it. Finally some punched flowers were added to complete the look.

Hope you like it. Come on over to the DRS Designs Blog and join in the fun. You could be the winner of some cool stamps!!

Until next time,

Merry Monday Challenge #7

I didn't get to play in Lesley's Merry Monday Challenge last week, so I had to make sure I got a card created for this week. If you haven't played along, it's a great way to get those Christmas cards created ahead of time. I love getting a head start on my Christmas cards!! Check out Lesley's blog "Always Playing with Paper" for the details.

Here's the card I created for this week's challenge.

The image is a stamp a friend gave me a couple of years ago. It doesn't say who made it so I can't give credit to any one. I love this adorable image of baby Jesus in the manger. I enjoy creating all sorts of Christmas cards, but ones that illustrate the true reason for Christmas are my favorite!  The "Merry Christmas" sentiment is a DRS Designs stamp. I used green, brown and white card stock and just a bit of DCWV Designer paper.  The image is colored with copics and mounted on the brown CS as is the sentiment. I added some brown CS punched with a MS border behind the DP, added a rafia bow and the card is complete.

With Faith Bookmark and CAS157 at SCS

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today I want to share something I am making for some volunteers I work with at my church. I wanted to make Easter cards for each one, but wanted a little something to go with. So I decided to add a little pocket to my card and insert a removal bookmark. Hope you like it!

I used pink and white card stock. The white panel is embossed with a textured CB embossing folder. The pink panel behind the book mark is stamped with DRS Designs butterfly background (536H) in SU Pretty in Pink ink. The pink pocket is embossed with the CB dotted swiss embossing folder. I added a ribbon to the pocket and a small label with DRS Designs Easter Blessings sentiment (1029D).

The bookmark is sponged with Pretty in Pink ink and has DRS Designs Faith sentiment (1025G) stamped in Stazon  Black ink. I added a couple of small punched pink butterflies and a larger one. They have tiny half pearls down the middle of their bodies. (don't think you can see it in the photo). The same pink ribbon was added to the bookmark.

Today's CAS Challenge at SCS was a sketch challenge. I like CAS cards and sketch challenges so I had to play along. Here's my take on today's challenge.

For this card I used DRS Designs recently released Glow Bug (1044D) and sentiment (1057D). I think this little bug is adorable and looks so cute colored with copics with some stickles added to his end so he really does light up!! :-)

Cupcake Challenge and Merry Monday Challenge

Here are a couple of cards I made for challenges today.

This first is for the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  We were inspired by this cake.

I used the colors and stripes as inspiration for my card. Here's what I came up with.

All stamps are DRS Designs. I used the Girl Swirl heart and plaid background stamps. This week DRS Designs is giving away a prize for this challenge. Come on over and play along.

Every Monday Lesley at Always Playing with Paper sponsors a Christmas card challenge. She gives us a sketch and we take it from there. I am enjoying doing this weekly challenge, since it gives me a head start on my Christmas cards.  Here's my card for this week.

All stamps are DRS Designs on this card too. I used the large girl snowman, Merry Christmas sentiment and the four in one snowflake background.

Well I've gotta get to work, so that's all for today.

Until next time,
shelia

DRS Designs Challenge #10 Birthdays

Hi Everyone,

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to make birthday cards. I am always in need of birthday cards. A friend's mom is celebrating her 80th birthday this week. Here's the card I made for her and this challenge.

All stamps are DRS Designs. I just love this large daisy stamp (1023M). To create this look I stamped the flower in the center, then used a mask and stamped the one on the left. I made another mask for that flower and then stamped the third flower on the lower right. The daisies were colored with copics and then I added stickles to the centers for some sparkle. Happy Birthday (250B) was stamped in black below the flowers. The white panel was attached to a pink layer and then that was attached to my yellow card. To finish it off I added a pink bow (made with my bow easy!!) in the upper left hand corner.

Come over to DRS Designs and play along in this week's challenge. We'd love to have you!
