Is it too early for Valentines Cars?

Sometimes I think we crafters are as bad as the retailors when it comes to rushing the holidays/seasons. It's only New Years Eve and here I am posting a Valentine card. But we have to get a head start in order to get them all created, right?

This is for the newest Challenge at DRS Designs. It's a great challenge too. You get to pick a challenge from this past year to use to create your card. I chose Challenge 157: Inspired by Color.

Here are the colors:

And here's my card:

This card uses all new stamps from DRS Designs. I started with the pinkish red CS and stamped the small silhouette heart (666A) in VersaMark ink to create my own DP. The new triple Silhouette hearts (662F) were stamped with Memento Lady Bug ink on white CS, punched with a border die and attached to the red layer. The Be My Valentine Question Mark (664G) was stamped with the same Lady Bug ink on white CS, die cut and layered on red and white. Some lacy ribbon and half pearls that I colored with a Copic to match the CS completes the look.

Hope you can find some time to join in this week's challenge. We'd love to have you play along.

Snow Better Friend

Happy Holidays! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

My card today features a newly released sentiment from DRS Designs. I paired it with the Snow Buddies for today's card. After stamping the image on white CS I colored it with Copics and die cut the panel as well as the blue panel. These are both attached to a yellow layer and then the white card base. The sentiment (678F) was stamped with VersaFine Onyx black ink on white CS, die cut and some blue ink was sponged around the edges while still in the die. Some white snowflakes with blue rhinestones and a yellow bow complete the look. It's kind of nice to create a card where the dies do most of the work for you, especially during the busy holidays.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve! It's also Thursday which means another challenge from DRS Designs. This week is an easy one:  Tis the Season. You just need to share a holiday card.

I started by stamping the greeting on white CS, coloring the Christmas letters with a red Copic and then embossed the panel with a Darice snow folder. The lamp post was stamped on white CS, colored with Copics, fussy cut and attached to the panel after the sheer green ribbon as added. Everything is layered on a red panel and then the white card base - a quick and easy card. I really like this lamp post image too.

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a very blessed Christmas!

Gift Bag

Happy Monday before Christmas! Are you ready? I am. I just have a couple of presents left to wrap and one more batch of cookies to bake. I am looking forward to the Christmas Eve service at church and then we'll take off for VA to see family. Fun times!

In order to get those last couple of presents wrapped I decided to try and decorate a gift bag with a snowman shaker. Here's what I came up with.

I started by stamping the kraft gift bag with the new medium Filagree Snowflake (673F) in VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with white EP. I did the same thing for the gift tag. The Snow Buddies image was stamped on white CS with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics and die cut with a circle nestie. Next I cut 8 rings out of white CS with my Cricut and glued them together. Once the glue was dry, I added the clear panel on top ad then the white scallop ring. Some glitter was added to the middle of the image and then I glued the other part on. I like the way this turned out. If I have enough time, I'm going to try and create another one. We'll see.

Have you checked out this week's challenge? We'd love to have you play along with us.

DRS Designs' Weekly Challenge

It's Thursday so that means another DRS Designs' challenge. This week it's a color challenge. Here are the colors to choose from.

And here's the card I created for today's challenge.

I stamped the scene first, added trees, snow lines and the sentiment. The ice skates were stamped and fussy cut. Some stickles were added for the snow. I don't know why the stickles on the roof look pink, I used the same stickle for all of the snow. It must be reflecting off of something.

DRS Stamps used:

Christmas Village Gazebo
Christmas Village Bridge and Pond
Christmas Villages 4 in 1 Accessories
Christmas Villages 4 in 1 Accessories 2
Water, Snow, Sand Lines
Christmas Greeting
Ice Skates

We'd love to have you play along with this week's challenge. You could be the winner of the following 3 stamps:

Tuesday Morning Sketches

DRS Designs is the sponsor this week for Tuesday Morning Sketches. The prize is a $10 voucher for DRS Designs stamps. Pretty cool. Here's the sketch.

And here's the card I created for the challenge.

I am still in need of a few more Christmas cards, so I used the sketch to create a quick and easy card. I started with a cream base, then added the olive panel that was embossed with a CB folder. The red strip was also embossed with the CB matching border EF. The Joy to you Always greeting was stamped with VersaFine black onyx ink, die cut and popped up with foam dots. I used a Sharpie to added the olive circle while it was still in the die. The holly was stamped with Memento Black ink on he same olive CS. I added red stickles for the berries. The cream panel was stamped with Lines O'Plenty in Real Red before layering it on red. This panel is also popped up with foam dots.

We'd love to have you play along. You can see details here.

Peace on Earth

Happy Monday everyone! Can you believe it is December 14th? Less than 2 weeks till Christmas! Are you ready? I'm still working on cards. Yikes!

My card today features the Three Wisemen. I cut the stamp apart so I could place the star & sentiment where I wanted. To create the card I started with some water color paper, that was colored with some TH distress inks and water. Once dry, I stamped the stain glass oval in Versafine Black onyx ink, then the three wiseman and the star were stamped with the same ink. Everything was heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The bluish green panel was dry embossed with the CB swirl folder after stamping the sentiment in black. Black felt ribbon was added after layering the panel on black CS. The stain glass oval was attached with foam adhesive for dimension and a tiny rhinestone was added to the star. I really like the look of this.

I really like the look of this and doing the stain glass on water color paper with distress inks was super easy. This week's challenge at DRS Designs is Silver and Gold. You just need to just either silver or gold or both on your card. The winner gets their choice of 2 stamps from DRS Designs. You can see details here.

Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and aren't too stressed with Christmas approaching rather quickly. I don't know about you, but my to do list just keeps getting longer and longer. Seems like when I cross something off that list, 2 or 3 new things get added. Good thing DRS Designs has some great Christmas images that make it easy to create cards for the season.

My card today features more of the Christmas Village images. These are so fun to play with. I started by stamping the CV Sign and the CV customized sign. Once these were colored with Copics, I used my Creative Memories cutting board to cut a curved shape for snow. I added some blue for the snow lines after stamping some of the walkway from the gazebo in the middle. The next layer was stamped with the CV Gazebo, Clock, Toy Shop and Slope Roof Cottage. These last two were also stamped on separate CS, colored and fussy cut. Some snow lines and pine trees were added. I used lacy stickles for the snow lines and the snow on the roofs. Some glossy effects were added to the clock face to make it look like glass. The top of the card was masked and some blue ink sponged in for the sky. Once everything was colored and dried I attached it to a dark blue card base.

This was fun to create and I really like the customized sign. Check out the on line store to see how you can get your own customized sign.

Gift Tags

This tag was created for DRS Designs' challenge this week. It's a simple one and very timely - make a tag! I used DRS Designs' new custom Christmas Village Custom Name Sign. You can have this custom made to use on your cards and envelops. It's so fun to create with!

I created my little scene using the Custom Name Sign, Slope Roof Cottage and 4 in 1 Accessories 2.  Once I stamped the images, I colored them with Copics, added some stickles for the snow and sponged in the sky. Once the stickles dried, it was layered on some red CS. A red ribbon and snowflake button complete the look. I really like it.

Hope you can join in this week's fun. You could be the winner of a $0 gift voucher to DRS Designs' on line store. You can see details here.
