Super Tired

DRS Designs has recently released some new images that are super fun. My card today features two of the new images:  Tired Woman (032H) and Super Tired Greeting (025E)

I started by creating a Z fold card and then the pink and black panels. The pink panels were stamped with the words from the Wordy Birthday greeting with SU Pretty in Pink ink. I cut the image apart and randomly placed the words on a large acrylic block to stamp the background. The Greeting (025E) was stamped partially on the front using VersaFine Black Onyx ink, die cut and layered on black CS. The band was decorated with darker pink flowers, leaves and black rhinestones.

The Tired Woman (032H) was stamped with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics, die cut and then the edges sponged with TH Distressed black ink. The rest of the greeting was stamped with VersaFine Black Onyx ink on the inside band and a small flower added to complete the look.

Here's a closer look at the inside portion.

Don't you love this new greeting? And isn't it so true? We try to be super mom, super wife and super woman only to end up super tired most of the time!! I can think of so many friends who would get a laugh out of this image and greeting.

Happy Easter

It has been unseasonable warm here these past several days and that has inspired me to get started on Easter cards. I recently saw a video on You Tube by Jennifer McGuire where she used toile as a window on her card. I really liked the look and decided to give it a try.

I started with the blue panel and die cut a square large enough for the bunny. I then die cut the same square on the white card base. Next the white toile was attached to the card base with strong adhesive and then the blue panel. I did use another nestie square to emboss the frame around the opening before attaching it to the card base.

The bunny was stamped with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics and then I used a clear Wink of Stella pen to add some shimmer and sparkle. While the Wink of Stella dried, I stamped another bunny and fussy cut him out, then I cut the colored bunny. Using score pal tape I attached the colored bunny to the front of the card, tucking him in between the toile and the blue frame. The other bunny was attached on the inside of the card so he lined up perfectly. This way the tape doesn't get stuck on the inside of the card when you close it. You could stamp a mirror image, color, fussy cut and attach it so the bunny is colored on both the inside and out. Since I don't have much luck with mirror images, I left mine plain.

Once the bunnies were attached, I stamped the Happy Easter greeting with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Here's a picture with the card opened just a bit.

This next card uses the same technique only with a  smaller image attached in the middle of the toile so it looks like it's floating. I really like this one.

I used a different bunny image, colors and die cut. Other than that, it's the same. I'll be doing a few more of these for my grandkids for Easter. Here's another picture of this one sort of opened. It does look like the bunny is floating, doesn't it?

Happy Valentine's Day

I thought I'd share one last Valentine card with you since tomorrow is the big day! I created this card for my hubby, which is good since it's too thick and sized wrong for the mail. I joined Spellbinders Die of the month club a while back and got the idea for this from a recent die set.

I started by creating the cupid arrow. I used a small bamboo skewer and glued two red hearts on one end. The other end was wrapped with gold twine before attaching the bow and red and gold leaves. I used Glossy Accents for the adhesive to make sure everything stays attached. The greeting was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink before attaching the arrow.

Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day!!

Cats and Dogs

Can you believe Valentine's Day is next Tuesday?! I still need to create a couple of Valentine cards. Yikes. Where does the time go?  I have a couple of Valentines to share with you today that I created for my two granddaughters. One is into cats right now and the other has always liked dogs.

I went with the same layout for both cards. I started by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting the kitty and puppy. The hearts were die cut using SB heart dies. Before attaching the hearts to the red layer, it was stamped with the new Amazing Valentine greeting and small hanging hearts. I used a Sakura gelly roll pen to color in the word amazing on one, but not the other. The puppy card was dry embossed with a SU hearts embossing folder. Some pink baker's twine completes the look. I think my granddaughters will like these. Now I need to get working on those other Valentine cards. Gotta get them in the mail!!

Hope you are further along on your Valentine cards than I am!!
