Merry Monday Challenge #4

For some reason I struggled with this design this week. I had an idea in my head for what I wanted to create, but it just didn't come out like I expected. I ended up making two different cards, neither being what was in my head!!  :-(  But at least I have another two cards for my Christmas 2012 stash!!

This card features Dasher from Stampin Up. I stamped him in Versafine on Kraft CS and then embossed him with detail white embossing powder. The white panel was embossed with the CB snowflake folder. I added some checked ribbon and red rhinestones to complete the card.

My second card features an ornament made with my cricut and glitter paper from DCWV. The dp is also DCWV. The ribbon with the little ornaments was purchased at JoAnn's on clearance. I wanted to add a sentiment, but felt like the card was a bit too busy already so left it off.

Until next time,

DRS Designs Challenge #9 Hearts

The challenge at DRS Designs this week is to use hearts on your card.

Here's my take on this week's challenge.

The pink background has DRS Designs interlocking background hearts stamped in Versafine's Petal Pink ink. I used the same stamp and ink on the white panel. The pink panel is attached to the white card with tape and then I zigzag stitched all around the card. The pink hearts were punched out of pink paper and then embossed with the swiss dots CB folder. The white heart postage stamp was embossed and die cut with a CB die and folder. I believe I got this die and folder free with my cuttlebug machine years ago. I haven't used it ages! I think it's really cute though. And that completes my card.

If you haven't joined in the weekly challenges at DRS Designs, you really should go check them out. Every Thursday a new challenge is posted and you have through the following Wednesday to link up your card. One lucky winner is randomly selected each week. The prize is either specific stamps from DRS Designs or a store voucher. Come check it out! We'd love to have you join us!

Until next time,

Merry Monday Challenge #3, WT 358, CCC12 January

Today at Splitcoast Stampers the challenge is to sew on your card - either real or faux. I have only done faux stitching on cards before. So today I stitched for real on my card for the very first time ever!! I really don't know why I've never actually sewn on my cards before. I like to sew and have a machine? Hmm, just never did. I do like the look. This card is also for the Merry Monday Challenge at Always Playing with Paper. Each Monday Lesley gives us a sketch to follow to make a Christmas card. It's a great way to get a head start on those Christmas cards!! I'm also trying to get at least 5 Christmas cards completed each month for the monthly Christmas Card Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers, so this is for that challenge too.

Here's the card I made today.

All stamps are DRS Designs:  (096D) 4 in 1 Snowflake Background, (613P) Plaid Background and (865G) Christmas Sentiment.

I used SU Night of Navy and Real Red for the plaid background on white CS. The little red snowflakes were cut with a CB die. The rhinestones were colored with a blue copic. I also used square nesties for the sentiment.  Hope you like it.

SC368

Here's a card I made today for Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge.

All stamps are DRS Designs: (096D) 4 in 1 Snowflake background, (875F) Snowflake Swirl, (364B) Merry Christmas.  Everything is stamped in Archival Gold and embossed with gold embossing powder. I used nesties to cut out the two small ornaments and attached some gold cord. This was a fairly quick and simple card to create and I really like the look. Plus I'm getting a head start on my 2012 Christmas Cards!!

Until next time,

ODBD Winter Challenge

Our Daily Bread Designs is having a "Winter" Challenge this week. You are to use at least 3 letters from the word winter for your card. Like White, Ink, Nesties, etc. I used those three letters as well as Embossing and Ribbon for my card for this week. Here it is:

The stamps are ODBD Flourished Christian Symbols. I stamped the image on green card stock and embossed it with detail white embossing powder. The verse is stamped in black on the DCWV green plaid  dp. I used a nestie label to make the shaped card and added a small white ribbon bow in the top left hand corner to complete the card.

Merry Monday Challenge #2

Over at "Always Playing with Paper" Lesley has a weekly challenge to get a head start on Christmas Cards. This is the second week and I now have 2 cards ready for Christmas 2012! Feels good! These challenges are sketch challenges. You can check out her blog for the details at:  http://www.alwaysplayingwithpaper.blogspot.com/

Here's the card I made for this week's sketch, which I turned on its side.

The stamp is DRS Designs adorable Penguin Snowball Blast (966K). It is stamped in Memento Black, colored with copics and then clear glue was added to the igloo and snowballs and finally dazzling diamond dust. I love the sparkle. The dps are DCWV Christmas pack from last year. I used a CB die for the two snowflakes in the corners. Hope you like it.

IC319 at Splitcoast Stampers

Every Saturday there is an Inspiration Challenge at SCS. Here's the card I made for today's challenge.

I was inspired by the colors used here:  http://www.polyvore.com/blue_danube/set?id=41812915
You can check out the challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. They are always fun!

The stamp is DRS Designs (306G) With Deepest Sympathy. The white cardstock is embossed with a CB embossing folder. The blue border was punch with a fiskars border punch. The tulips were made using the wings and branch from the SU 2 step bird punch. I added some rose red ink to the edges of the petals before putting the flowers together. I like the look of these tulips.

In with the New out with the Old

Happy Friday! Here's a card I made for Our Daily Bread's current challenge "In with the New, Out with the Old." You were to use something new and something old on your card.

My something new is the Nesties Label die and the something old is the ODBD stamp set "Flourished Christian Symbols." Actually everything else on the card is old - paper, ink, embossing folder, ribbon and half pearls. :-)  If you're interested in playing along in the challenge, check out the ODBD site.

There's also a challenge at DRS Designs this week to paper piece on your card. You can check out that challenge too. Both are offering prizes!

Until next time,

Merry Monday Challenge

Even though it is still the first week of January I'm making Christmas cards! I came across the blog "Always Playing with Paper" that has a Christmas Card Challenge every Monday and I've decided to try and play along as often as I can. It's always good to get an early start on those Christmas Cards!!  Here's a link to the site:
http://www.alwaysplayingwithpaper.blogspot.com/2012/01/merry-monday-challenge-1.html

Here is the card I made using this week's sketch challenge.

After I got going on this I remembered our dog chewed up my embossing buddy right before Christmas, so I have some extra gold embossing in some places. I may end up redoing this once I purchase another embossing buddy!  :-)

All stamps are DRS Designs - Ornament 844K, Merry Christmas 346B and Polka Dot background 688P. Everything is stamped in gold and then heat embossed in gold. I used a nestie ornament die and a Martha Stewart border punch. And now my first Christmas Card for 2012 is completed!  Yeah!

Until next time,
