Happy Birthday

I created this card for my grandson's birthday. It's a trifold card. I started with the dark blue CS and used the SB Contemporary Strip die to cut the front panel. The Snorkel frog image was stamped with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with Copics, fussy cut and attached to the blue panel with some glue. My grandson enjoys swimming so I think he'll get a kick out of this frog image. Here's a look at the front panel opened a bit.

The next fold is light blue CS with the Junpin' at the Chance greeting stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink.

The inside is white CS with the Happy Birthday greeting from the Birthday Multi Greeting stamped in Versafine Black Onyx ink.

I thought about adding something inside with the greeting, but wanted to keep it more simple and on the masculine side, since it's for my grandson.

Color Challenge

DRS Designs is sponsoring a color challenge this week. The colors are beautiful and just shout water, boating, swimming, summertime to me. So here's my card.

I started by stamping the sailboat with Memento black ink onto white CS, colored with Copics, die cut and layered onto green CS. Nest I punch a couple of strips of blue CS with a wave broader punch, stamped the Happy Birthday onto one strip and glued to the two together for a bit of dimension. The light blue panel was dry embossed with a SB waves folder, attached to a darker blue panel and then everyone is added to the green card base. This was an easy and fun card to create. I'm pretty sure this will be my brother in law's birthday card. He loves sailing!

Hope you can join in the fun!

Christmas in July

Send a Smile for Kids is such a worthy cause and I do try to play along every so often. I think it's a challenge I really need to do more often. When I saw their challenge right now is Christmas in July, I had to play along. I enjoy creating Christmas cards the most of any card.

I started with a white card base, added a layer of red CS and then the holy print dp. I've had this dp for years. It's from a DCWV Christmas pack. Next I stamped the reindeer and North Pole sign onto the white CS with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics and die cut. It's also layered on the same red CS. For the square behind the reindeer square I used more DCWV DP and layered it on green CS. The Merry Christmas is part of a longer greeting. I just cut it apart so I can easily use just this line of the greeting. I can put it back together whenever I want the entire greeting. That's one think I love about stamps not being mounted on the wood blocks. Anyway, Merry Christmas was stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with detail white EP. I added a couple of button snowflakes. Lastly I added gold stickles to the reindeer's magic grain and some white stickles to the snow on top of the sign and on the ground beneath. I think a child would like this Christmas card.

This was created using this week's sketch design at Split Coast Stampers. Isn't it a great sketch?

You still have several days to join in this worthy challenge to bring a smile to a child who's sick and in the hospital!

Teacher Thank you!

Here in NW Ohio, everyone is getting ready for school to start again. It seems like summer just started, but....

I created this card using DRS Designs new ruler image. When I first saw this image I knew I wanted to use it to create a frame for this teacher greeting. Once everything was put together I decided it needed a little something so I stamped the teacher tools onto white CS, colored with Copics and fussy cut. I really like how this card turned out. It is sure to make a teacher's heart feel full.

I'd like to enter this in the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge  which is a thank you for a teacher. You can find details here.

Birthday Bubbles

This week at Split Coast Stampers we were shown how to stamp a selfie image for cards. If you check on DRS Designs' blog, you'll find Julie's fabulous Pigs on Vacay Selfie. Julie inspired me to give this technique a try. Since I needed a birthday card for my 4 year old granddaughter I went with the Bubble Piggies. What four year old has a party without bubbles, right?!!

I started by creating the frame for the selfie, along with a mask for the frame with nesties. Using the mask I stamped Leonard pig behind a bubble with Memento black ink in the corner, made a mask for him, then stamped Leonard blowing bubbles over top. Once the images were colored with Copics, I added some Wink of Stella to give the bubbles some sparkle. The frame was glued on and then attached to the blue panel that was embossed with a CB folder. The Leonard the pig Billboard was stamped with Memento black ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut. The birthday greeting is part of the Multi Birthday image and was stamped with Versafine black Onyx ink. Some enamels dots were added to the corner of the frame. I think my granddaughter will like this bubbly piggy card.

Pets are Family Too Challenge

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is Pets Are Family too. Here's the card I created.

I started by stamping the Cat in a Bag image with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut it out. I created the background paper by stamping the cat paw background image with Versafine Black Onyx ink onto pink CS. These panels were layered onto black CS and then to an easel card base. I added a black gingham ribbon before attaching the main image with pop dots. The two greetings (897F and 901D) were stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink onto white CS, die cut and layered onto Black CS.

You still have time to join in the Pet Challenge this week. We'd love to see what you create.

Flamingo Pool Party!

It seems flamingos are all the rage right now. DRS Designs has a new flamingo palm tree scene that makes for a fun summer time card. I created today's card for 2 challenges: Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge #360 and Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #366.

Here's the sketch layout:

And here's the cupcake for inspiration:

And the my card:

I turned the sketch sideways to fit my image better. To begin I stamped the Flamingo Palm Tree Scene on white CS with Memento Black ink, colored it with Copics, cut it into a rectangle and layered it onto blue CS and then kraft CS. I added some Wink of Stella to the ripples in the pool for some sparkle. The blue panel was embossed with the CS Swirls EF, layered on kraft CS and attached to the white card base. The kraft panel was stamped with the splatter background with Memento Cocoa ink and then a few places had some Wink of Stella added. Last the starfish from the 4 in 1 sea shells was stamped on white CS, colored with Copics, fussy and attached with foam dots for dimension. I also added some Wink of Stells to the starfish.

get well wishes

Hi Everyone! My card today features our new "Hang in There Monkey." In keeping with this week's Creative Piercing Challenge, I did some piercing around the main image. I'm not real creative with my paper piercing. And please don't look too closely, I didn't exactly pierce in straight lines!

I started by stamping the tree branch image onto white CS with Memento Black ink and then colored it with Copics. The little monkey was stamped with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics and fussy cut. The Hang in there greeting was stamped onto white CS and green CS, die cut and glued together with the brown x-stitch thread in between the layers. I used a square nestie to die cut the frame from green CS. The pierced border was added while the die was still in place. I used some strong adhesive to attach to the little monkey to the back top of the frame so he is actually hanging down. Next I attached foam adhesive strips all around the back of the green frame, being sure to catch the brown thread so it is hanging freely too. I stamped part of the under the weather greeting with Versafine Onyx ink on the bottom of the green frame and then attached it to the white panel with the colored branches. Once the card was all together, I decided to glue the thread to the monkey's hand so it looks like he is swinging onto it. The little sign can flip to the green side still.

There's still time to join in the piercing challenge. We'd love to see what you come up with. You can see details here.

Challenges

I have two cards to share with you today that I created for some challenges sponsored by DRS Designs.  The first is for DRS Designs own weekly challenge: Creative Piercing. I added some pierced lines diagonally on the strawberry panel.

I created the background paper by stamping the smallest line from the Woven Plaid image with Memento Ladybug ink. I used my Misti to keep the lines straight. I also used the Misti to stamp the 4 in 1 ants with Versafine Black Onyx ink. The Ant Picnic image was stamped with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics, die cut, pierced and layered on black CS. The soon to be released Summer Story greeting (881C) was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx, die cut and layered on black CS. A bakers twine bow completes the look.

My second card is for this week's challenge at The C.R.A.F.T. Challenge Blog which is a sketch challenge this week. DRS Designs is sponsoring this challenge. So you have two ways to win some goodies from DRS Designs. Here's the sketch:

And here's my card:

First I stamped the silhouette golfer with Versafine Black Onyx ink on white CS. I used the Misti so I could stamp again to ensure a deeply colored image. The greeting is also stamped with VErsafine Black Onyx ink. My SB Grand Calibur broke yesterday so no die cuts on this card. I used my paper cutter to cut the two into rectangles, used a corner punch to round the corners and layered them on navy CS. The background was created by stamping the Everything Golf image with Versafine Majestic Blue ink. Again I used my Misti to line up the image, so I could stamp nice and straight and even. How did I manage before the Misti existed?! The corner pieces were punched, glued on and some white half pearls were added.

I hope you can find time to join in these challenges this week!

Happy Wedding!

I created this card using the Tuesday Morning Sketch Design for this week's challenge. It's a great sketch and I had a lot of fun working with it. Here is the sketch.

And here's my card:

There's no stamping on this card. I have long admired white on white cards, but find them difficult to do. I do like how this one turned out. I started by embossing the first white panel with a rose bud EF. Next I used a lattice die from SB to cut the second layer. A SB die was also used to cut the frame. The fountain was created using a die, but I do not know which company makes it. I die cut a bunch of things at my friends house, but didn't write down names. The satin ribbon and pearl heart complete the look.

Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by today,

Summertime!

Happy 4th of July to those of you living in America. Hope you have had a great weekend celebrating our independence!

In keeping with this week's The Heat is On challenge here at DRS Designs, I have a summer time card to share with you that features the new sailboat (887F) and summer story sentiment (881C). I paired these two images with the Seaside Dock image.

I started with white CS, stamped the sailboat with Memento Black ink, masked it and stamped the seaside dock image with Memento Black ink. I used a Memento Black marker to create the horizon line, masked both images and sponged on Bashful Blue ink for the sky. The rest was colored with various Copic markers. I used a SB die to cut the frame into the kraft base and attached it to the colored panel.

The greeting was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink, die cut and sponged with ink while still in the die. It's attached with foam adhesive for some dimension. Some bakers twine was added to the side. Hope you like it.

There's still time to join in this week's challenge. You can find details here.

The Heat is on!

This is for this week's challenge at DRS Designs: The Heat is On. I used their soon to be released Sailboat image (887F) and sentiment (881C). I think they go perfectly together. I started by stamping the sailboat on white CS, colored with copics, die cut and layered on green CS. The sentiment was stamped on white CS, die cut and layered on the same green CS. The blue panel was embossed with the Spellbinder waves folder. It is also layered on that green CS. I tied a sailor's know with jute, added it before attached the sentiment. The ship's wheel was die cut using a Darice die. I added a black enamel dot to the center to complete the card. Kind of makes me want to go sailing!

Hope you can find some time to join in the fun. Here are the details.
