Monster Hugs

I am really liking this new Monster Hugs greeting (975D) from DRS Designs. As a grandmother I can see this on all of my grandkids' Halloween cards this year. I mean, what else does a grandma give her grands? Right? Well, besides candy?!!

I started by stamping the mummy image onto white CS with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics, masked him and stamped the tombstone image and silhouette graveyard image. I used Copics to color the grassy area and sky, then die cut the image and layered it onto purple and green CS. I did the same thing with the Monster Hugs greeting (975D). The card base is green with a purple layer that was stamped with the monster eyes background image using VersaMark ink and white embossing powder.

I added a white layer on the inside and stamped the same silhouette graveyard image with Versafine Black Onyx ink on the bottom for some added interest.

Hope you are enjoying these new images. Be sure to check out the on line store for details.

Remember the Ghoul times!

DRS Designs is about to release some new Halloween stamps and this week you will see some sneak peeks of this scary and not so scary images. I used the new "Remember the Ghoul Times" greeting (969D) on my black and white Halloween card.

I stamped each of the images with Brilliance Moonlight White ink onto black CS, using my MISTI to create a clear crisp image. I didn't have to mask anything, it all fit just right in the spaces. Here are the images from DRS Designs that I used:

Remember the Ghoul Times (969D)
Spooky Old Tree (070L)
Winter Trees (680L)
Accent Bats (517A)
Ghouls (268D)

Some milky rhinestones were added to the lower left corner and the top corners were rounded with a corner punch.

I stamped the accent bats and ghouls with Versafine Black Onyx ink on the inside just for fun.

Shake It Up Challenge!

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is "Shake It Up." That's right, you are to create a shaker card. Shaker cards are so much fun and I haven't made one in years. This was a fun challenge to play along with. I created this pumpkin shaker for my 1 year old grandson.

I used Nestie Oval dies to create the pumpkin and shaker part of the card. The vertical Happy Halloween was stamped in two parts on the inside before putting the sequins (orange and black) into place. I hand cut the pumpkin stem. A punch was used to create the grass. Some enamel leaves and striped ribbon complete the look.

Hope you can join in the fun this week. Would love to see what shakers you can create.

Wags the Dog

I have a quick and easy card to share with you today featuring Wags, the Dog. He's one of my favorite dog images from DRS Designs. You can color him so many different ways. He's fun to work with.

I began by stamping Wags with Memento Black ink on heavy white CS, colored him with Copics, sponged some TH Distress ink along the edges and layered it onto kraft CS. I used the Copic Colorless Blender Pen to remove some of the color with dots on his back and head.

Next the background was created by stamping the dog paw and bone with TH Brushed Corduroy ink onto white CS. This is layered onto the Kraft card base.. The new Congrats greeting was stamped with the same distress ink, die cut and layered on another die cut at an angle. I added the embossed kraft panel before attaching Wags. A puppy paw button completes the look.

It's your birthday!

I seem to be in birthday card mode - only creating birthday cards. But I guess that's normal for this time of the year. My immediate and extended family seem to mostly have birthdays in June, July and August. Can you believe it is August already?!!

My card today also goes along with DRS Designs' recent challenge: Naked Stamping - no coloring. I created the background paper and then stamped the silhouette image in black over top.

I created the background paper by dropping some alcohol ink into water and then laying the CS on top. You end up with some usual designs. I really like the look. I stamped the cowboy image with Versafine Black Onyx ink using the Misti to get a nice crisp image. This is layered onto black CS and then attached to yellow CS. The greeting was also stamped in black on the same background paper, layered on black CS. Before attaching it to the yellow panel I added some black brads.

This is an easel card and the rest of the greeting is stamped on the inside on the same homemade background paper, layered on black CS and attached to the yellow CS with foam dots for some dimension to hold the card open. Here's a look a the inside.

If you have time, we'd love to have you join in this week's Naked Stamping. You can see details here.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
