Post It Note Holders

My neighbor has asked me to join her at a craft fair, so I've been working on some things to take along. This is a Post It Note Holder with a mini gel pen. It's easy to create and makes a cute little gift. You start with a piece of 8 1/2 in. by 3 1/4 in. card stock.

Score at 1 1/2, 1 7/8. 2 1/4, 5 3/4  and 6 1/8

After scoring the card stock, fold all score lines. Do a valley fold at the 1 7/8 score line.

After folding, you need to cut two slits between the 1 1/2 and 2 1/4 score lines. I made the slits about 1/2 an inch apart. This creates the little flap where your gel pen will be held in place.

Cut 2 slits about 1/2 an inch apart between the 1 1/2 and 2 1/4 score lines.

Fold the score lines again, pulling the small flap out to hold the pen.

Now you need to use double sided tape to hold the back fold down.

Be sure to keep the little flap free of tape!!

Tape the back fold down. 

Add double sided tape to the back of your post it note.

Remove the backing from your tape and adhere your post it note to the inside of the holder.  I used a corner punch to round the top flap corners. It makes it look a little more special.

You can add dp to the top and bottom flaps. The top flap is 1 1/2 in. x 3 1/4. I used a piece of 1 3/8 x 3 1/8 dp for the top flap. The bottom flap is 2 3/8 in x 3 1/4 in. I used a piece of 2 1/4 x 3 1/8 dp for the bottom.

Top flap dp is 1 3/8 x 3 1/8. Bottom flap dp is 2 1/4 x 3 1/8.

To hold the top flap closed, attach a square or circle with a foam dot on the front bottom flap. Be careful not to catch the top flap with the foam dot. Now you can slide the top flap behind the square or circle and it will stay closed. I used the DRS Designs medium Filigree Snowflake on my square. Because of the size of my snowflake, my square is bigger than it has to be. On others that I've made I used a 1 1/2 in square or circle.

Add a gel pen and your project is complete!

Inspiration Challenge at SCS

At SCS, the inspiration challenge took us to an interesting site. As soon as I saw the purple coneflower (http://www.gelaskins.com/gallery/National_Geographic/Purple_Coneflower) I knew exactly which DRS stamp to use! I love big flowers, especially daisies. So here is my take on today's challenge. I used the large DRS daisy (M1023), colored it with copics, used square nesties for the flower and border. I stamped the background with the DRS interlocking flower background (H813) using VersaMark, added the MS doily strip, added some half pearls and punched the side with a scalloped border.

A very close friend has a birthday this week, so I made this for her. Hope she likes it!

Happy Fall

I love this time of the year when the leaves are beginning to change color and it's cool enough to have to wear a sweat shirt! It was actually cold enough one night this week to have our first fire in our fireplace. :-)

Creating cards for Thanksgiving is another thing I like about this season. Here are a couple of Thanksgiving cards I made.

I created the pumpkin card for a challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. We were suppose to paper piece something on our card. I used a piece of scrap DP and stamped my Stampabilities pumpkin on to it, cut it out, glued it onto the white CS where my original pumpkin was stamped and colored the stem with copics. I used some ribbon I'd purchased last year and the Cuttlebug swirls folder to give it the feel of leaves blowing around. I really like the look of this CAS (clean and simple) card.

The leaf stamp is from the $ bin at JoAnns and the sentiment is from an unknown set I've had for a long time. I stamped the leaves in SU Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip inks, then cut them out. I stamped the pumpkin CS with the leaf stamp to make my own designer paper and added chocolate chip CS for a border and then the large square brad next to the sentiment. You can see the small leaf border on the inside of the card - I think it just adds a little something!

Well I think I'll go stamp some more!!
