Challenges

This is a card I created for this week's Our Daily Bread Design's Shining Light Challenge to use purple on your card in honor of their anniversary. A dear friend lost her mom last night, so I created this for her.

I used today's sketch design at Split Coast Stampers for my layout. The card base is Perfect Plum with a layer of light purple CS and then a layer of white that was embossed with a Darice flower folder after stamping the sentiment in Perfect Plum ink. The main image is from ODBD Flourished Christian Symbols and was stamped in Perfect Plum ink. I added some sparkles in the centers of the flowers and leaves with a Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen. The butterflies were created using some MS punches. I cut up the flourish that was die cut to fit it where I wanted.

Since it's been snowing all day and work has been cancelled, I found time to create another card today. This is for this week's Merry Monday Challenge and the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge. For the Merry Monday we were to use Chocolate, green, gold and cream or white on our card. I really struggle using Chocolate to create a Christmas card. I'm not sure why and usually when it's called for in the challenge, I avoid playing along. But today I decided to make myself give it a try.

I embossed my cream CS base with a Sizzix snowflake folder. The chocolate layer was die cut with a SU scalloped edgelit die. The main image (ODBD Flourished Symbols) was embossed with gold embossing powder along with the sentiment (DRS Designs), then cut with a Nestie fancy square die. I added the green and gold ribbon to the chocolate panel before attaching the cream square. I really like this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches. It's easy to use and quite versatile.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,
shelia
