DRS Designs' Thursday Challenge

This week the challenge at DRS Designs is Snow Fun. Here's the card I created.

I started with a white card base with a teal blue layer added. The next layer is white with the 4 in 1 snowflake stamped all over in versaMark ink. I heat embossed the snowflakes with clear embossing powder and then sponged Taken with Teal ink all around. I really like the look of the embossed resist technique!! After attaching this panel to the card, I added teal ribbon, my picket fence and the Christmas lights. I found these Christmas lights stickers at Hobby Lobby and  love how they fit on this fence so well!! To finish off the card I stamped the Sand, Water, Snow Lines and Let it Snow sentiment in Taken with Teal on white card stock, fussy cut it out, then added a teal snowflake and rhinestone before attaching it to the bottom of the card.

Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

This week DRS Designs is sponsoring the Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge. Here's the card I created for today's sketch challenge.

I turned the sketch on its side and just added a bow instead of the circle and bow. Hope that's ok. I really wanted to stamp the new Funky Christmas Tree three times, masking the one in the middle. This made a larger image, but I like the way it turned out! After coloring my trees with Copics, I added some dimensional stickers from my stash. The tree panel is framed in the same green card stock as the card base. The large white panel is embossed with the CB snowflake folder. I used DRS Designs easy dot background stamp in green and yellow for the vertical strip behind the main image. The bow was made using my bow easy and yellow and green bakers' twine. Hope you can find some time to play along in the challenge!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Cyber Monday!!

Hope everyone had a marvelous Thanksgiving! Are you still eating turkey and stuffing?  We are! I don't usually like leftovers, but there's something about the Thanksgiving leftovers - they're just as good the second and third time around!

Today my card features the just released Silent Night greeting and the small nativity scene as well as the Silent Night sheet music. Everything is stamped in silver on blue card stock and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Heat embossed Christmas cards are so pretty to me and fairly easy to create!! I made a card very similar to this last week for the Merry Monday Challenge. I really like this layout!

After stamping the sheet music image I cut the image into 3 banners and layered them on a white panel that was embossed with the CB snowflake folder. The sentiment and small nativity image were cut with nesties and layered on white. Some silver half pearls and silver ric rac were added to complete the look. Hope you like it.

Today is the last Merry Monday Challenge so I had to create one last card using Lesley's awesome sketches!

These stamps had to be dusted off before using them this morning!! The bulb is from an ancient SU set called Little Layers and the sentiment is from Button Bear. I kept this card CAS. After stamping and coloring the bulbs, I layered them on green nesties and then attached them to a white snowflake embossed panel. Between the circles I added a couple of ornaments cut from nesties and embossed with the Swiss dots folder. The red panel was punched with a MS snowflake border. I used my bow easy to make the little green bow. I'm sad to see the Merry Monday Challenges end, but look forward to playing again in January!! It's been a great way to get my stash of Christmas cards created early!

Thanks for stopping by. And if you haven't up loaded your "turkey" card, you still have time to play in the latest DRS Designs' challenge. We'd love to have you join us!

Christmas Lights

I made this card for Friday's Free for All challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. We were to use glitter on our cards. Now I must admit, I am always hesitant to use glitter unless it's Stickles. I make such a mess with loose glitter!!! It ends up everywhere. My poor dog even ends up with glitter on her. Anyway, I used DRS Designs waves, snow, water lines image to stamp the snow drifts and then added some glue and sprinkled glitter along the edges after stamping my sentiment in the corner. The background was created using DRS Designs Snowflakes image. I stamped it in VersaFine, heat embossed in clear and then sponged Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy and Night of Navy ink all around. I really like the embossed resist technique for backgrounds. My fence is a die and the lights are stickers I found at Hobby Lobby on sale. I really like the look of the lights along the fence - very festive!!

Merry Monday Challenge #42

I finally found time to play in Lesley's Merry Monday Challenge again. It's been a while. She has some great sketches! Here's my take on this week's challenge.

I stamped DRS Designs' Silent Night Sheet Music on red and green card stock and embossed it in gold, then cut them into the flags for the background. The sentiment and main image are both new images and will soon  be released by DRS Designs'.

This is also for today's Technique challenge at SCS "Emboss the Edges". I used an old embossing pen to emboss around the edges of the cream circle and oval shapes, then heat embossed with the same gold as the images.

Thanks for stopping by.

Until next time,

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow I can hardly believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Where has the time gone? I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating this holiday.

I have two cards to share with you today. The first one is a card I made for my son and daughter in law for Thanksgiving.

I started with a pumpkin colored base and then added the white panel that was stamped with silhouette branch background in Pumpkin Pie ink. On the left I added a panel of white layered on the pumpkin card stock after stamping it with the new checkerboard background. I stamped the sentiment in black on a pendant and then stamped part of the silhouette branch in pumpkin pie for some added interest. The flower is from my stash. Some dew drops were added to finish it off.

My second card is a sneak peek at a soon to be released Christmas stamp. Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday and I love creating Christmas cards, especially with new stamps!!

First I stamped the woven plaid background in Real red on the red card base. The Santa and Reindeer was stamped in Memento black on white card stock. The new Christmas Lamp Post (238H) was also stamped on the same panel. I colored in the Santa and Reindeer image with copic markers. The lamp post was stamped a second time on white, colored with copics, fussy cut and attached over the original image with glue dots for some dimension. The holiday lights were stamped on white, colored with copics and cut out and layered on green before attaching them to the card. I really like the festive look of this card.  Hope you do too!

Be sure to check DRS Designs for the new releases this weekend!!

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the holiday this weekend and I hope you find some time to stamp!!

Turkey Challenge

Here's a fun card I created for this week's challenge at DRS Designs to use turkeys. I think this turkey is too funny holding his "help" sign!!

My card base is white with a layer of yellow. I punched 4 strips of card stock with the Swiss dots border punch and attached them to the yellow card stock. The main image was stamped in Memento black, colored with copics, cut with a square nestie and layered on a yellow nestie. The sentiment was stamped on white card stock, cut with a labels die, sponged with yellow ink and attached to the card.

I'll send this to my grandson for Thanksgiving. He'll think it's funny!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you can join in the challenge!

Until next time,

Give Thanks to the Lord

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I love the food and family time, but I really enjoy the time spent reflecting on everything I have for which to be thankful! For me this sentiment says it all!!

My card base is a dark pumpkin color with a layer of white that was stamped with the new Long Tall Wheat  in More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie inks. I sponged some More Mustard and Antique Linen along the bottom for the ground and then some Bashful Blue at the top for the sky. A picket fence was added with the punched pumpkins. The sentiment was stamped in Pumpkin Pie on white, cut with a pendant die and layered on a scalloped pendant. I colored some clear dew drops with a Copic marker before attaching them to the upper right hand corner with glue dots to finish the look.

Be sure to check out all the new releases at DRS Designs! Plus there's still time to join in this week's challenge. We'd love to have you join us and show us your cards featuring candles!

Thursday Challenge at DRS Designs!

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to use candles on your cards. I thought about making a Christmas card featuring candles, but I need birthday card for a friend. So I'm going with b'day candles!

I cut two triangles out of green and orange card stock, ran them through the Swiss dots CB folder and attached them to the white card. The main image was stamped in Memento Black, colored with copics, cut with a nestie die and sponged with some Barely Banana ink before removing it from the die. I added some orange bakers twine before attaching the main image to the center of the card. Some green dew drops were added to the orange panel and some orange drops to the green panel. Hope my friend likes it!!

We'd love to have you join us in this week's challenge!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Fall Y'all

DRS Designs has some great new fall stamps. I have been having so much fun trying them out! My card today features their new Happy Fall Y'all greeting and the adorable little scarecrow!

I started with a white card base and attached a layer of red card stock that was embossed with the CB pumpkin swirl folder. On top of that is a layer of blue CS with a white panel that was stamped with the Woven Plaid Background in Real Red and Ballet Blue inks. I think this Woven Plaid stamp is my favorite background stamp. It looks so much like real fabric and is super easy to use!  The Happy Fall Y'all was stamped in black on white, cut like a banner and layered on the same blue CS. I had the scarecrow brad in my stash and thought it would be perfect for this card. The main image was stamped in Memento black on white, colored with Copics, cut with a pendant die and layered on a scalloped pendant. Two small red brads were added to finish it off.

Be sure to check out the new releases at DRS Designs. Also there's still time to join in this week's Fall challenge at DRS Designs. We'd love to have you join us!
