Challenges

What's behind the Mask? That's the challenge this week at DRS Designs. Create any card you like, just be sure to use a mask somewhere. I used a mask to create the sky and snowy areas on my card.

I started by creating the little scene outside the die cut window. I used distress inks and a mask to sponge in the sky, then I stamped the ornament branch and trees. I colored the ornament branch with Copic markers, then masked off the ornament and applied white Wink of Stella to the snowy area. Once that dried I put some Glossy Accents on the ornament and set it aside to dry. The gray CS was stamped with the wood grain background stamp in Stazon Dove Gray ink. The greeting was stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink onto white CS and die cut with a SB fancy label die. Once everything was put together I decided the window needed something, so I stamped the lightpost onto white CS with Memento Black ink, colored the bow with various red Copics, fussy cut and attached it to the top of the window. Some red rhinestones complete the look.

My second card is for two challenges: Tuesday Morning Sketches and Our Daily Bread's Color Challenge.  Here's the sketch and color pallet.

And here's my card:

I used ODBD new Coffee dies and matching stamps. The coffee beans are from an old stampin up set called Espresso Yourself. The dp is from my stash. I added some clear Wink of Stella to the flower, tiny coffee cup in the greeting as well as the blue stripes on the die cut coffee cup. I thought these dies and greeting were perfect for the sketch at TMS. This is for a friend who's birthday is Monday. I think she'll like it.

Thanks for stopping by,
