Thank You!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I have been working on some thank you cards and thought I'd share one with you today. This one uses the argyle background stamp. I like how versatile this stamp can be. You can create any color combo you want and it's easy to stamp. I used browns and blue to create a more masculine look.

I started by stamping the Argyle background stamp in Memento Cocoa ink on cream CS. I stamped the Argyle diamond with Memento Cocoa, TH Antique Linen and SU Bashful Blue inks. The sentiment was stamped in Memento Cocoa, die cut and layered on brown CS. Some brown ribbon, a blue button and twine finish it off. Hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by today. This week's challenge is "Frosted Flakes." We'd love to see what you create using snowflakes or snowmen. You can see details here.

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

Happy December 23rd!! Christmas is almost here. I hope you are not in a panic and can relax and enjoy the holiday. Today I want to share a gift card holder that I created for my mom. She loves poinsettias so I used the Poinsettia ribbon slide as a belly band to hold the card closed. I think she'll like it.

I started with a 2.5 x 7 inch piece of red CS and scored it at 2.5 and 5 inches. The front was stamped with the Splatter background in VersaMark ink. The plaid was created by stamping the open plaid in Real Red ink and Handsome Hunter Ink. I used a Sakura Silver Gelly Roll pen to add some silver lines to the plaid background. This was layered on some green CS. The poinsettia slide was stamped in Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with Copics, fussy cut and highlighted with a Sakura Stardust Gelly Roll pen. Some sheer red ribbon was used for the belly band.

Here's a look at the inside.

The edge was punched with a MS snowflake border. I added a piece of white CS that was punched with the same border and stamped with the sentiment in Real Red ink. I added a couple of the red snowflakes punched from the border with white half pearls to finish the look.

I apologize for the color of these photos. I don't know why the red ends up looking so orange. It really is a very pretty shade of red!  I'm sure there's some way to remedy this, but I don't know what it is. :-(

Thanks for stopping by today and have a very Merry Christmas!!

Until next time,

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I decided to get started on some thank you cards this week, so today I have a thank you card created with this week's sketch design at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I started with a Real Red card base that was stamped with DRS Designs starry background in VersaMark ink. The Filigree Star was stamped with VersaMark ink on real red and embossed with detail white embossing powder. The edges of the red panel and white panel were punched with a starry border. Thank you was stamped with real red ink, die cute with a Nestie tag and popped up with foam dots. This was a quick and easy card to create. I may be doing a few more of these!

Thanks for the fun sketch challenge and for stopping by today!

Let it Snow!

Hi Everyone. Trust you all survived the weekend, especially if you live in the areas affected by this latest winter storm. We got 7.5 inches of snow here in Toledo, a record for this time of the year. It was kind crazy since it snowed all night and day. The crews just couldn't keep the roads clear enough for me. Of course, I grew up near Virginia Beach where half an inch of snow shut the area down for days! Driving in the snow scares me big time. I do love snow and how it makes everything clean and bright. Perfect for this time of the year!

So in honor of all the snow and the sledding around the neighborhood I have a snow card to share with you. And this is for this week's Merry Monday challenge #88 to use an animal on your card!!

I started by stamping the playful penguin postage frame in Memento Black on white CS as well as the 4 in 1 snowflakes in Taken with Teal ink. After coloring the image with Copics and adding some glitter with a Sakura Stardust pen, I punched the 4 corners and layered it on some teal, then green CS before adding the ribbon and putting the whole panel on the white card base. The Let it Snow image was stamped in Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with Copics and layered on the same teal and green CS. I added some punched teal snowflakes with rhinestone centers to finish it off. I like the way this fun card turned out. Hope you like it!

Happy Monday

Hi Everyone. Hope you all survived the snow, ice, freezing rain and cold!! We only got a little bit of snow here in Toledo, OH. It sure is cold though!! It's been nice to sit by the fire to keep warm!!

Today I have another Christmas card to share with you. I must admit Christmas cards are my favorite cards to make.

The card base is white with a layer of red CS and then a layer of navy CS that was embossed with the CB snowflake folder. All the corners were punched with a SU ticket corner punch. The main image was stamped in Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with copics, corner punched and layered on red CS. The smaller square was stamped with the Christmas multi-greeting in Memento Black ink on white, corner punched and layered on red CS. To complete the look  a red ornament was created using nesties and a rhinestone snowflake. Hope you like it.

Please check out this week's challenge. We'd love to have you join in the fun!!

Happy Monday!

Wow, can you believe it is already December? I guess now would be a good time to get serious with the Christmas card making if you haven't already started!  My card today features the Stained Glass background stamp. These background stamps are easy to use and really look beautiful. I started by stamping the stained glass on white card stock with Memento Black ink and the main image in black ink, then heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I used my lightest colored Copic markers to color in the stained glass.

The card base is black CS with a layer of white CS that was embossed with the Swiss dots folder after die cutting the window with a nestie die. I used the same die and the next size up to cut the black frame. Some velvety black ribbon and rhinestones finish the look. Hope you like it!

There's still time to join in this week's challenge. You can see details here.

Happy Monday

Hi Everyone. I'm sure all of you here in the USA are busy getting ready for Thanksgiving this Thursday! We are traveling up to Rochester to spend the weekend with my brother in law and his family. Hope you all have a wonderful time with family and friends!

For my card today, I'm sharing another Christmas card that features a new and soon to be released Cardinal stamp.

I started by stamping the pine branch in Memento Cocoa ink around the edge of my cream CS layer. The sentiment is also stamped in Memento Cocoa. The new little cardinal (1050F) was stamped, colored with Copics, die cut, layered on Bravo Burgundy and attached with a pop dot. Everything is layered on more Bravo Burgundy and then attached to a cream card base. Some gingham ribbon and rhinestones complete the look.  Hope you like it!

This week's challenge is called A Star Spangled Christmas. You are suppose to use Red, White and Blue or stars on your Christmas card. We'd love to have you join in the fun!!

Star Spangled Christmas!

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to create a Christmas card using Red, White and Blue!  There are some gorgeous red, white and blue cards on the DRS Blog!  Here's mine:

My card base is red CS with a layer of blue. On top of this is a white layer that was sponged with blue inks to create the sky. I used my white gel pen for the falling snow and some stickles to edge the snowy background. The main image was stamped on white CS with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics, fussy cut and popped up with dots. Some stickles were added to the fur on Santa's suit. Merry Christmas was stamped, die cut and added to the upper corner. I really like the sparkle on this. Now to decide which grandchild gets this!! Hmmmm.

Thanks for stopping by. We'd love to have you join in the challenge this week. You could be the winner of some awesome stamps!

Challenges

Hi everyone. Today I have a Christmas card for this week's Merry Monday Challenge to use a tree and some bling. I used today's sketch challenge at SCS for my layout. The stamp set I used is an old SU set called Christmas Peace. It hasn't seen ink in years!! :-)

My card base is Bazzil red with a layer of green CS that's already embossed with lines. On top of the green is another layer of the Bazzil red that was embossed with the CB swirl folder and punched along the edges with a star border. The main image was stamped with VersaMark on the red CS and embossed with gold embossing powder. It was die cut and layered on gold. Some tiny gold half pearls were added to the upper corners.

This didn't turn out like I had envisioned, but I do like it. I think I want to try this sketch again and see if I can't do it more justice. It really is a pretty design.

Happy Hogidays!

Today my card features a soon to be released Leonard the Pig (1047G) dressed in his Santa hat, going through his Christmas list. Leonard is an adorable image, especially paired with the new "Happy Hogidays" sentiment (1038B).

My card base is kraft CS with a layer of brown CS. The main image was stamped in Memento Cocoa ink on kraft CS, colored with copics, then embossed with a wood grain folder. A window was cut out with a SB die. Behind the window is a piece of white CS on which I stamped the snow background in VersaMark ink, embossed with clear embossing powder, then sponged blue inks for the sky. A window frame was added along with the string of Christmas lights, that were stamped, colored with Copics and fussy cut. I stamped Leonard a second time on white CS, colored him with Copics, added some white flower soft to his hat, fussy cut him and added him to the main image with pop dots. The sentiment was stamped in Memento Black ink on a white tag, colored with Copics and layered on a brown tag. A red rhinestone was added for the dot in the i. A red package button and bakers twine finish it off.

Happy Veterans Day!

My card today pays special tribute to the men and women, past and present, who serve in our military. I saw a post on Facebook that says it well. Thanksgiving is the day we give thanks for the freedom we have. Veterans Day is the day we thank those who make that freedom possible.

My card base is navy blue with a layer of red CS. On top of the red is a white layer that has red and blue stars that are embedded into the CS by dry embossing. The Veterans Day sentiment was stamped with navy ink on white CS, die cut and layered on red and navy CS. The support ribbons were stamped in navy and red ink on white CS, then layered on a red panel that was punched with a star border.

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to thank those who serve our country and us so faithfully.

Who's a Turkey?

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to use a turkey on your card. I used the newest turkey image from DRS Designs which will be released soon.

I learned about this technique of stamping in VersaMark, embossing with detail white embossing powder, then coloring the image with Copics on Stamp TV. I really like the look and it's a quick and easy card to create. The card base is kraft CS with a layer of brown. The main image panel is also Kraft. After stamping the sentiment and embossing the top half in my CB, I stamped the image, embossed, colored him, added the dew drops, ribbon and button, then attached it to the card base. Easy peasy!

We'd love to have you join us in the challenge. You could be the winner of some beautiful stamps!

Anniversary Wishes & Merry Monday

Happy Monday! Hope you have had a great weekend. I've been busy working on a First Anniversary card for my daughter and son in law. This time last year we were all excited and doing last minute preps for the wedding. It's hard to be believe it's been a year already!

I got the idea for my card from the Winter 2013 Cardmaker Magazine which features pop up cards. I really like the way this card has something hanging down freely on the inside, so I went with it.

The card base is made with Pretty in Pink CS with some layers of white and pink CS. On the top layer I stamped the 1st Anniversary sentiment in Memento Black ink, masked that portion off before stamping the Interlocking Hearts Background in Pretty in Pink ink. I scored the border of the sentiment to give it a bit more definition. I got the idea for this from Split Coast Stampers' Ways to Use challenge this past Thursday. To complete the front I added a pink bow.

The inside was a bit more complicated, at least for me it was. Thankfully Cardmaker Magazine had detailed instructions. I'd have been lost without them!!

First I cut two white panels and embossed them with an older CB embossing folder that has flowers and hearts. The Happy Anniversary sentiment was stamped in Memento Black ink on pink CS, die cut with a Nestie label and attached to the inside. There are two small clear rhinestone hearts on the sentiment label. The top border was created using a punch. The small hanging hearts were cut with the smallest Nesties scallop heart die. The words "love," "hugs," and "kisses" were stamped on the hearts. Two hearts were glued together with a piece of white bakers twine in between. The hearts are attached to the fold out border with tape. Here's a close up of the hearts.

I really like the way this turned out and I know my daughter will too!!

My second card is for this week's Merry Monday Card Club Challenge. You can details of this challenge here. Lesley has a great challenge each week!

I really like this color combo and went with a CAS style card. I started with the white card base, added a layer of red CS, then a layer of aqua blue that was stamped with the tiny Merry Christmas sentiment (DRS Designs 364B)before embossing with a CB snowflake folder. The tiny snowmen (DRS Designs 256B) were stamped on white CS with Memento Black ink, colored with Copics, die cut and layered on red scallop circles. To complete the look, I used my Nesties snowflake dies to create the snowflake. A white button and some baker's twine finish it off.

Happy Halloween

Today I have a quick and easy Halloween card that features our new mummy image. I started by stamping him in Memento Black ink on white CS, added some shading with a gray copic marker and fussy cut him out. The card base is a bright yellow Bazzil CS with a layer of black and orange CS. The orange was stamped with our spooky eyes background. The corners were punch with a SU corner punch. The sentiment was stamped on the same orange CS, cut into a banner and layered on the black and yellow CS. After adding my mummy to the card, I punched the trick or treat bag using a MS punch and added it to look like the mummy is out trick or treating!

Happy Fall

Today I am on my way to Kiawah Island in South Carolina. We are meeting our kids there for the week. I am so excited to spend some extra time with the kids and grandkids. Plus Kiawah Island is such a relaxing place. My two favorite activities there are walking along the beach and biking around the island! I can feel myself relaxing just thinking about it!

This week DRS Designs is the proud sponsor at 365 Cards. I created today's card using the Sunday sketch design at 365 Cards.

My card base is So Saffron CS that was stamped with our medium silhouette leaf stamp in VersaMark ink. The horizontal strip is also stamped in VersaMark with the same leaf stamp. The vertical strip was embossed with a Spellbinders leaf folder. The Autumn Wreath image was stamped with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with Copics, fussy cut and then attached to the card base. The sentiment is part of the Happy Fall Ya'll greeting. It was stamped in Memento Black on So Saffron CS, die cut, and sponged with Old Olive ink before attaching it to the card.

If you have time to play along in this week's challenges at 365 Cards, you could be the winner of a $10.00 gift voucher towards DRS Designs Stamps!

Merry Monday Challenge #79

This week's Merry Monday challenge is to use snowflakes, blue, white, and silver. I used today's sketch challenge at Splitcoast Stampers for my layout.

The card base is white CS with a layer of Bazzil Navy CS that was embossed with a Sizzix folder. The medium snowflake and tiny snowflakes were stamped in silver ink, heat embossed with silver embossing powder, then layered on silver CS. The banner was embossed with the CB snowflake folder and layered on the same silver CS. I added some sheer and sparkly silver ribbon and a snowflake medallion made with Spellbinders.

Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.

With Sympathy

When I saw the sketch design for Tuesday Morning Sketches I decided to play along. It's a great sketch. I did turn the sketch on its side so my main image would fit. Unfortunately, I am in need of a sympathy card, so that is what I created.

I started with a white card base, added a layer of Old Olive CS and then a white layer that was embossed with a SB leaf folder. The main image, sentiment and leafy banner were all stamped in Old Olive Ink and layered on Old Olive CS. A gingham ribbon and some dew drops were added to finish the look.

"Paws"itively Fantastic Birthday!

Hi Everyone. Today I'm sharing a birthday card that I created for my niece. She loves dogs and sadly their family dog died several weeks ago, but they just got a couple of new puppies that they named Merida and Meeko. So I used our playful pups image and tried to color the two puppies to match Merida and Meeko. :-)

I started with the Old Olive layer, stamped the Pawsitively Birthday greeting in Memento Black ink, die cut the square window and then embossed it with a Sizzix paw folder. The image was stamped with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with copics and attached to the dark brown panel. I used the same brown CS to make the scalloped square frame. Everything is attached to the white card base. A brown twine bow finishes the look. Hope you like it!

If you haven't checked out this week's challenge yet, you can see details here. We'd love to have you join in the fun. You could be the lucky winner of some great DRS Designs stamps!

Thank You & Merry Monday Challenge

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was good, but really busy. I'm hoping things slow down some this week. :-)  Since I am in need of a thank you card, I thought I'd share one with you today.

The technique of stamping in VersaMark on Kraft CS, embossing with detailed white embossing powder and then coloring with Copics has become a favorite of mine. It is fairly quick and easy and I really do like the look of copic inks on kraft CS. So for my thank you card, I started by stamping my image on kraft, embossing and coloring with Copics. I thought the white edges were too bright for the fall colors, so I colored over the edges with the various copic markers. The top half of the card was dry embossed with the CB pumpkin folder and then the sentiment was stamped, die cut and added to the top left hand corner. Some brown ribbon, a leaf button and baker's twine finish the look.

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to check out this week's challenge to have a moon on your card. You still have time to play along and win some awesome DRS Designs' stamps!

Next I have a card I created for this week's Merry Monday Challenge. You can see details about this challenge at Lesley's blog.  We were to use a bird on our card. I used my SU 2 step bird punch to create the bird. I also used today's Technique Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers to make my own stencil to create a background. I used a small snowflake punch to create the stencil and then stamped the snowflakes in Colorbox White ink on the Bashful Blue CS. Some MS punched pine branches were added to give the little red bird a place to rest. The sentiment was stamped in Real Red on Bashful Blue CS, punched with a tag punch and layered on Real Red CS. It's attached with some red baker's twine. Hope you like it.

Challenges

This week's challenge at DRS is "Harvest Moon."  Here's the card I created for it.

I started by masking the moon with a circle and sponged Bashful Blue and Not Quite Navy inks around for the sky. The ground was created by sponging Old Olive, Most Mustard and TH Antique Linen before stamping the DRS easy grass background in More Mustard and Old Olive. The silhouette trees and sentiment were stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink. The fence was created with a border punch. Some brown ribbon, a leaf button and some baker's twine complete the look.

We'd love to have you come play along with us. You can see details here.

This next card is one I created with this week's Merry Monday Challenge #77 to use red, pink, dark green and light green. I used DRS Designs 4 in 1 snowflakes, stamping them in Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive and Certainly Celery inks.

I used a SU edge die to cut the border on both the stamped panel and the Old Olive layer. The sentiment was stamped in Memento Black on the Real Red CS before embossing it with the CB snowflake folder. Some olive gingham ribbon and a toy soldier charm were added to complete the look. Hope you like it!

Happy Birthday

Tomorrow is my brother in law's birthday so I'm sharing a quick and easy birthday card that uses fall colors and looks rather masculine. At least to me it does. Sometimes I find it rather difficult to come up with masculine cards. Girls are so much easier!!

I started by cutting the panels from pumpkin, old olive and gold colored CS. On the gold and old olive panels I stamped our silhouette leaf in More Mustard and Old Olive. The gold panel has a sheen to it, so the leaves don't show up too well. They really are there though and look quite nice in real life! On the pumpkin panel I stamped the open leaf in Pumpkin Pie ink. These are attached to the chocolate card base. The greeting is part of the multi birthday stamp and was stamped in Pumpkin Pie on pumpkin CS, layered on chocolate and attached to the card base. Some orange and green dew drops were added to finish the look. No ribbons or bows since it's for my brother in law. Hope he likes it.

The weekly challenge is "So Spooky it's Scary." Now doesn't that sound like fun?!! We'd love to have you join us.

Happy Monday!

Happy Second Day of Fall!! I can't believe summer is over already. It went by way too fast for me!! Though I must admit, I love the cooler weather and the beauty of fall flowers, leaves and pumpkins. I have a friend who's birthday is next month, so today I am sharing a birthday card I made for her using the Sunflower Trio and Sunny Days Birthday greeting. Sunflowers make me think of sunshine so I like pairing these two stamps go together.

I started by stamping my birthday greeting in Memento Black ink on white CS, die cut it with a nestie and then sponged Pumpkin Pie ink around the edges while it was still in the die. The Sunflowers were stamped also stamped on white CS, colored with copics and fussy cut. I stamped them a second time and colored the center flower, fussy cut it, added seed beads and popped it up on the original flowers before adding it to the sentiment panel. The orange layer was embossed with the Spellbinders leaf folder and layered on the brown card base. Some brown ribbon and a leaf button complete the look. Hope you like it!

With Sympathy

Today I have a sympathy card to share with you. These are my least favorite cards to create, though I know they do bring some comfort and love to those who are hurting. This is for a friend who just lost her mom this week.

I started by stamping the medium daisy bloom three times, colored them with Copics, die cut with a square nestie and then layered them on some purple CS. The With Sympathy sentiment was stamped on the bottom corner with Memento Black ink before embossing this panel with a Darice flower folder. This is also layered on the same purple CS and everything is attached to a white card base.

There's still time to join this week's challenge. You can see details here.

Ghouls just wanna have fun!

Today I have a Halloween card to share with you. I just love this cute sentiment. It makes a fun Halloween card.

I stamped the main image with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with Copics and die cut it. The ribbon slide witch's hat was also stamped with Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with Copics, fussy cut and added to the main image with a glue dot. A satin black bow was added to the hat. The purple panel was stamped with the Eeeek background using VersaMark. This panel is layered on black CS that was punched with a scalloped border. The sentiment was stamped with black ink on the bottom corner. Some colored rhinestones were added to finish the look. I think this will go to my daughter for Halloween! She'll appreciate the sentiment.

There's still time to join in this week's challenge: It's so Bright in Here! We'd love to have you play along. You can see details here.

Merry Monday Challenge #73

The Merry Monday Challenge this week is to use kraft, red and green on your card. Here's my card for this challenge.

I stamped my Holly image and sentiment with VersaMark ink on kraft CS, embossed both with detail white embossing powder, then colored the holly with my Copics. I like the look this technique gives. The top half of this panel is embossed with the CB snowflake folder. Red gingham ribbon, a star button, bakers twine and a red layer were added before attaching it to the main kraft card base.

Challenges

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to use bright colors on your card. It is the perfect challenge for creating Halloween cards. Here's the card I made.

My card base is black CS with a layer of bright orange that was embossed with the Fiskars spider web plate after stamping the "Fang"tastic greeting. The side panel was stamped with both the accent bats and the small Happy Halloween greeting in Memento Black, layered on black CS and added to the card base. The tree branch was stamped in black on the bright orange and layered on black CS. I stamped the goofy bat on white CS, fussy cut and added him to the tree branch with a glue dot. Some punched bats were added to finish the look.  Hope you like it.

We'd love to have you come join the fun. You can see details here.

I also have a card for this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I started with a Bravo Burgundy Card base, added a layer of holly DP and a gingham ribbon. The square panel is die cut along with the poinsettia. Some rhinestones were added for the center berries. I just realized there's no stamping on this card. I guess the sentiment will be going on the inside!!  It's a great sketch. Here's the link to TMS.

Happy Labor Day

Today is Labor Day in the USA. For many it means a day off. For me it means a day free to stamp and create!! Well, at least this morning. This evening we will be hosting a cookout with some friends.

DRS Designs has some new Christmas stamps just being released, so I thought I'd share a card I created using the new Christmas Fence stamp. I had just gotten back from a trip where we drove through Kentucky and saw all the beautiful pastures with white wooden fences, so of course I made my fence white.  :-)

I started with a white card base and added a real red layer. I stamped the Christmas Fence and the Tree Line border with Memento Black ink on white card stock, colored the images with Copics, sponged Bashful Blue ink in the sky and added some crystal stickles to the snow lines and base of the fence for sparkle. The sentiment was stamped in black ink on white, die cut and layered on a red die cut panel that was attached with snowflake brads. This card really does remind me of that drive through Kentucky!!

Thanks for stopping by today. This week's challenge is "Mad about Plaid." We'd love to have you join us. You can see details here.

This is the sketch:

and this is my card:

I started with a Kraft card base, added a layer of white that was embossed with the CS snowflake folder after stamping the one line Merry Christmas! The ribbons were also added before attaching the white layer. I stamped the gingerbread boy on white CS, colored him with Copics and a white gel pen, fussy cut him and popped him on the card with foam dots. This was a quick and easy card to create and I love the CAS look!

Sympathy Card

I created this sympathy card for a friend from work lost her grandfather unexpectedly. I used today's sketch #213 from Tuesday Morning Sketches.

My card base is white with a layer of unknown green CS from my stash. The Bashful Blue layer was embossed with a SU folder after stamping the sentiment in Memento Black ink. The butterfly was stamped in Memento Black on white CS, colored with Copics, die cut and sponged with Barely Banana while still in the die. I stamped the butterfly a second time, colored it, fussy cut it and attached it just on the edge so it looks like the butterfly moving. The So Saffron square was die cut with nesties. The banners were also die cut. The tiny butterflies were punched, glued on and some tiny pearls were added to their bodies.  I hope it brings some comfort to my friend.

Bling in the Holidays!!

I just love this new stamp and greeting soon to be released from DRS Designs. The festive ornament pairs so nice with this greeting!

I started with a navy card base, added a layer of silver CS and then another layer of navy. The filigree ornament was stamped in silver three times on this layer of navy along with the greeting. After heat embossing, the layer was added to the card base. Some rhinestone snowflakes and silver cord bows were added to complete the look. I really like silver and gold embossed cards for the holidays.

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to create a one layer card. We'd love to have you join in the fun. You can see details here.

Back To School Cupcake Inspiration!

My younger brother just got a teaching job and I am super excited for him. This is a second career for him and I know he'll be an excellent teacher with his laid back personality, sense of humor and enthusiasm for education. So I created a card using this week's cupcake inspiration to guide me.

Here's the cupcake:

And here's the card I created:

My card base is white with a layer of real red CS and a layer of DCVW DP that I thought matched the cupcake liner pretty well. The sentiment and school books are from a discontinued SU set called Golden Rule Days.  Someone gave me this set when I first started stamping. After stamping the School day greeting on white CS, I cut it into a banner and layered it on Real Red CS. The school books were stamped in Real Red, Handsome Hunter and Ballet Blue on white CS, fussy cut and added to the card with pop dots. Some red ric rac and dew drops were added to complete the look. I think my brother will like it.

Thanks for stopping by.

challenges

Hi Everyone. This week's challenge at DRS Designs is to create a card with no layers. You can see some awesome one layer cards on the blog! Here's the card I created for the challenge.

I started by stamping my butterflies and sentiment in VersaMark ink on the Kraft card base, then I embossed everything with detail white embossing powder. Once it cooled down a bit, I added some color to the images with my Copics. I really like the subtle colors you get when you color on kraft CS. A white ribbon was added to complete the look. A very quick, easy and pretty card!

Hope you'll have some time to join in the fun this week. You could be the lucky winner of some gorgeous DRS Design stamps!!

I also found time to play along with this week's Merry Monday Sketch Challenge. I love getting a head start on my Christmas cards!!

I turned the sketch sideways so my snowflakes and little snowman would fit better. The base is Bashful Blue with a layer of white that was embossed with the CB snowflake folder after stamping the greeting in Bashful Blue ink. The snowman and snowflakes were stamped in Bashful Blue ink, die cut, sponged around the edges with the same blue ink and attached to the card with glue dots. The punched snowflakes were made with a MS punch around the page corner punch. Blue rhinestones were added to complete the card.

Thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

DRS Designs is the sponsor of this week's challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Here's the card I created using their sketch. I really like sketch challenges!!

I started by stamping the butterfly background in VersaMark ink on Certainly Celery CS before attaching it to the white card base.  The So Saffron strip was embossed with the CB dots folder. The Textured butterflies were stamped in Bashful blue, Certainly Celery and Barely Banana inks on white CS, die cut and layered on Bashful Blue CS. The sentiment was stamped in Bashful Blue, die cut and layered on the same blue CS. A small blue ribbon and some green rhinestones finish it off. Hope you like it.

We'd love to have you join in the fun at Tuesday Morning Sketches. You can see details here.

a sweet birthday!

Today I have a simple birthday card to share with you. I love our cupcake stamp paired with this greeting!

I started with a white card base and then added a layer of navy CS that was punched with a cupcake border on one side. The red panel was embossed with the CB birthday folder. Some red bakers twine was wrapped around it before attaching it to the base. The cupcake image was stamped in Memento Black ink on white CS, colored with Copics and fussy cut. The scallop circle was die cut and sponged with Real Red ink before added the cupcake image to it. Some lacy stickles were added to the cherry to give it some shine. The sentiment was stamped in two parts and die cut with a nestie banner die. I sponged some Real Red ink around the edges of the banners too. Hope you like it.

Remember this week's challenge is one decorative edge on your card. We'd love to have you join us!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Challenges

DRS Designs' challenge this week is to have just one decorative edge on your card. This was harder for me to do than I thought it would be. I think I go for a more symmetrical look. If you check out their blog you can see some really beautiful one edged cards!! Here's mine:

I started with a white card base and cut one edge off using a SU border die. I cut the same edge out of red CS to make a border for the white card. The Christmas ornaments are new from DRS Designs and will be released soon. They are so pretty. I stamped them in VersaFine Cardinal ink, embossed them with clear embossing powder, then added the red bows and rhinestones. The sentiment was also embossed. This is really a CAS card, but it took me a while to pull it all together. :-)

We'd love to have you come join us for this week's challenge.

My second card today is for Lesley's Merry Monday challenge #70. I haven't had the chance to play along with the Merry Monday challenges for a while now. I really like Lesley's sketch designs.

Here's this week's sketch:

Here's the card I created:

The card base is Real Red CS. The panels are DCWV DP that I've had for years. The main image is DRS Designs snowball blast. I love these little guys. They are so cute and easy to color. After adding some color with my Copics, the image was die cut, layered on real red and some stickles were added to give the snowballs some shimmer. Merry Christmas was stamped on the bottom panel in Memento black. Red bakers twine and a white button were added to complete the look. I think the round button sort of looks like a snowball.

Purrrfect Halloween!

I know it is only August, but with this cool weather we are experiencing it feels more like Fall. And I have this urge to create Halloween cards!! This is for this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch Challenge. I did make some minor changes to the sketch in order to fit my greeting on the front of the card. It's a great sketch!!

The card base is Bazil yellow CS. The smaller yellow panels were stamped with DRS Designs Accent bats and Eeeek backgrounds in Memento Black ink. After layering them on black CS they were attached to the base. The sentiment was also stamped in Memento Black ink. The main image was stamped in black, colored with Copics, die cut with a square nestie and layered on black CS. Three black buttons with yellow baker's twine were added to complete the look.

Hope you like it. Thanks for stopping by.
