Challenges

Today I have a couple of cards I created for some weekly challenges. The first card is for DRS Designs' Feelin' Green Challenge which requires you to use green on your card. The card doesn't have to be for St. Patrick's Day, but with green the main color, why not?  I used a couple of new stamps from DRS Designs that will be released soon. Be sure to check out DRS Designs soon to see the new Irish stamps!!

I started by stamping the shamrock background in Old Olive ink on the bottom part of a piece of Old Olive CS and the Swirly Shamrocks on the top. The border was stamped with the new Shamrock Swag on the same CS. Everything was attached to a white base. I used a small gingham ribbon to help divide the main background panel. The soon to be released Great Joys sentiment was stamped in black ink on white CS, die cut and sponged with Old Olive ink while still in the die and is attached with pop dots for some dimension. The Happy St. Patrick's Day greeting was also stamped with black ink, die cut and sponged with Old Olive. Some old olive rhinestones were added to the banner to complete the look.

This challenge just started today, so you have plenty of time to join in the fun. You can see details here.

My next card is for the weekly Merry Monday challenge. This week we are to use a stocking on our card. My sister in law gave me a bunch of stamps that belonged to a friend who is no longer into card making. I have had fun trying out the various stamps. I used the Stocking stamp from the SU Holiday Woodcut set to make my stocking card.

I started with a Bravo Burgundy card base, added a layer of dark green CS and then the cream layer that was embossed with a Sizzix snowflake folder. The Stocking was stamped with Bravo Burgundy Craft ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I colored in the stars and outlined the toe and heel of the stocking with my Sakura Star Dust pen. I used some button brads that I colored with a Copic marker to match the Burgundy CS and layered the stocking on the same green and burgundy CS. A burgundy gingham ribbon was added before the main image. The dark cream stocking is from a package of Christmas buttons I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

Thank you for stopping by today!!

until next time,
shelia
