Challenges

This week's challenge at DRS Designs is Button It. You must use buttons (real or faux on your card). Here's my take on the challenge.

The peeps and just the Happy Easter part of the Favorite Peeps Sentiment (the rest of the sentiment is inside the card) were all stamped with Memento black ink on white CS, colored with Copics and then the edge die cut and the panel cut down to size. I used the same nestie die to cut the edge of the green CS and layered everything on a white card base. Last I added the three flower buttons with some yellow bakers twine tied on.

This challenge just started today, so you have plenty of time to join in the fun. We'd love to have you play along. You can see details here.

My second card if for the Cupcake Inspirations' 300th Challenge. I combined two of the challenges for this card - the color challenge and the confetti challenge.

I immediately knew what I wanted to do when I saw the confetti challenge: embedded embossing with confetti falling and the confetti alert greeting. I've created a similar card before and really like the fun look. The only problem is the confetti is so tiny, you have to glue it down and then emboss. Just embossing doesn't hold the confetti in place. But I think it's worth the extra work.

Here are the inspiration photos from Cupcake Inspirations.

I really like this color combo. So I started by punching the circles and stars with a couple of border punches in the blue and green colors. I cut the white panel to the size I wanted, randomly glued the confetti where I wanted it go, then embossed it with a herringbone folder because it has a pretty tight pattern. This was layered on some matching blue CS, then bakers twine was added. The Confetti Alert image was stamped on white CS, colored with Copics, die, layered on the same blue CS and then added to the card with some thicker pop dots to cover up the knot of the bakers twine. I used yesterday's sketch challenge 350 at Splitcoast Stampers for my layout.

The challenge at Cupcake Inspirations last till March 14. You can see details here. There are lots of prizes to win, including a gift certificate from DRS Designs. Hope you can play along with this challenge too.

Thanks for stopping by.
